Okay. I’ve noticed a lot of people have been doing these projects on their thoughts, explanations for things, etc. I decided I would share some things I think about this topic, to educate all the homophobes, and just people who are new to this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I’ll be splitting this into sections, to make it all neat n’ tidy and stuff ;w; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ table of contents ig 1: Homophobia in general 2: Using Christianity as an excuse 3: The actual NAME “homophobia” 4. Straight pride 5. Helpful projects ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Homophobia in general This is just... I don’t know how anyone thinks this is fine. Give me one reason why loving who we love and using pronouns that fit us is wrong. You say being LGBTQ+ is wrong, but give me a REAL reason it is. It’s like hating someone with different colored eyes than you. They can’t change their eye color. LGBTQ+ people can’t change what they feel. If you openly hate on us, then Scratch isn’t a place for you. It literally says in the Community Guidelines that Scratch welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Your peers are all human. They deserve to be treated equally. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2. Using Christianity as an excuse Why...? Is there actually any verse in the Bible saying that being gay is wrong? As far as I know, no. If there is, that’s probably a false translation. The word “homosexuality” wasn’t invented until way after the Bible was written, right? And, think about it, if you’re a Christian and you hate and don’t respect the LGBTQ+ community, you’re basically going against everything you’re being taught. If you hate us, you’re breaking the 2nd Great Commandment, to love your neighbor as yourself. I don’t have anything against Christians, (I am one) just homophobes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3. The actual NAME “homophobia” Whoever made that word, they were very... I don’t know what to say. It’s just no. Here’s the ACTUAL definition of homophobia: ho·mo·pho·bi·a /ˌhōməˈfōbēə/ noun dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people. Did that say “an extreme or irrational fear of homosexual people”? No. Look, I know that phobia can also mean “aversion”, but being terrified of something seems to be the main definition. You think of that when you think of a phobia, right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4. Straight pride Is this really necessary? The straight people get 12 months each year to be accepted and normalized by the world. It’s really just greedy. Who got muddered for being who they are? Who had to fight for their rights? Who actually NEEDS a special month dedicated to them so they can feel loved? Last time I checked, it was the LGBTQ+ community. We aren’t doing it to get attention. We’re doing it so we get treated equally, at least for a little bit. (I’m not against straight people) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5. Helpful projects I might not have explained this very well, here are some other great projects talking about these problems :’) - - - - Basically everything in here: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Credits: art: me (well except for that pastel gay flag in the background song: Elements by Lindsey Stirling
