I started by looking at blocks in the Block Palette and also thinking through projects I'd seen during Getting Unstuck that resonated with me. I have been a big fan of @MrQuentin's randomized pen/music art projects (as well as @scmb1's!), and I'm a bit of a math nerd, so I went into a few different deep dives about what's possible on Scratch. There are workarounds for imaginary numbers out there, and on Wolfram Alpha you can search for various shapes + curves and see the parametric equations to draw a cat or Batman or an aardvark...My thought process was like this: A series of incoherent thoughts I had: I'm going to calculate R0 for Covid...>> I'm going to do project 12 of project euler >> Maybe I'll draw a mandelbrot...? julia sets...? >> I'm going to calculate imaginary numbers and calculate the parametric equation of a cat >> what is a parametric equation?!? >> here's a parametric circle. Blocks I explored: note/sound blocks, pen blocks, and more of the trig blocks that I just never use. I discovered that syncopation is super hard to do in Scratch, also. Basically I didn't make anything coherent, but I did see a lot of other really beautiful Scratch projects that sparked my imagination! It feels like a dissatisfying project to end on, but I'm focusing on all the ideas I'm excited about for the future! Also as my partner @UnseatingBread pointed out, of course a project that incorporates blocks that I'm less familiar with isn't perfect - it's just an invitation to keep exploring. Thank you all for the inspiration and support! :)
