Chapter 3: The ceremony The sun was shining, and creeping slowly through Zelda's curtains. The princess yawned and rubbed her eyes, when here eyes were adjusted to the sun's light she exclaimed "The knighting ceremony!! I'm going to be late for everything if I don't hurry." After a few minutes of searching, she decided to wear a blue dress with white lace on the bottom and yellow highlights. She slipped on some brown boots. her white gloves, and then proceeded to make sure her hair was tidy. When it looked satisfying enough for her, she ran out her room and to the dining room. "Zelda" her father said sternly "I was afraid you weren't going to wake up, and was considering sending a servant to get you." The blonde princess sighed as she sat down in her chair on the opposite side of the table "Well I'm not late am I? That's what counts." The two ate in silence for a while until the royal chef entered the room "G'morin' yer majesties" he said in a rushed tone "The ceremony is in a hour and a half, you might want to make sure everything is in place." "Yes, I'll do that now " he said rising from his chair "You too Zelda, come with me." "But, I'm not finished yet!" she replied. But one moment under her father's cold gaze changed her mind, and she immediately rose to follow him. Link was pacing back and forth across his room, lots of thoughts running through his mind. "You aren't nervous are you?" asked Kane with a huge smirk. The blonde gave him an angry glance and continued to pace the floor. "Link, if you continue pacing you might just wear a hole in the ground" he joked, clearly in good spirits. Link on the other hand wasn't in the mood for jokes, the future he always wanted was on the line, and Kane was playing around like it was nothing. 'Maybe I am a little nervous' Link thought to himself 'Maybe I'm just overthinking things. Way too many maybes....' The redheaded trainee (Kane) put his hand on Link's shoulder "Link, buddy, it was just a joke. To tell you the truth, I'm nervous too. I just like to laugh and shake it off." Link smiled a bit, knowing he wasn't the only one. "But don't tell ANYONE. Or. else" Kane threatened half-jokingly. Just then, the door was flung open and the head knight entered "It's almost time for the ceremony to start..." he said, sternly eyeing Link "You two need to come with me". The blonde didn't hesitate, he grabbed his wooden sword and put it in it's sheathe. Kane copied Link's actions and then followed the man. Zelda pushed her way through the busy streets, occasionally saying "Sorry!" or "Excuse me" trying her best to keep up wither her father. 'Could he just slow down!' she thought to herself, as she finally was able to walk close to the king. "You seem quite agitated" her dad commented "is everything all right?" Her frown faded at the thought of meeting all kinds of interesting people "Nope! I'm excited to see who will become an official knight." The king seemed surprised at Zelda's sudden attitude change "Alright... Go sit down in your seat, come up to the stage when I call you" he demanded. "Yes sir" the princess mumbled as she sat down in her chair. She glanced at the crowd of trainee's, they each had one thing in mind at that moment: To become an official knight. "The life of a knight must be so exciting" she said out loud "They don't have to sign papers. Instead they ride horses, battle strong enemies, and..." Her father's voice interrupted her thinking out loud "Welcome one and all to the knighting ceremony!" Everyone cheered and all the trainee's bowed. "All the hard working youngsters out there, that hear his or her name called, must come forward to be knighted. But first... Zelda!" The blonde princess jumped out of her seat 'Here I go...' she thought nervously as she made her way to her father's side. "I will now call the names..." he said "Gordon... Dorcas... Ulric... Carac..," name after name was called, and Zelda was starting to doze off out of boredom "Kane..." Link watched as his friend was knighted, and he began to wonder if he would be called. And then he heard something, that took away all his doubts "Link..." he rose to the stage and bowed. Zelda put her sword next to Link's left shoulder "You are hereby declared, an official knight of Hyrule." Link rose ad walked away, followed by Kane "can you believe it?" the redhead asked "We're real knights now, Link! It at feels like a dream!" The blonde smiled a bit 'Yeah... it really does'. After the ceremony, Zelda was accompanied to her room by Urbosa "What's up with you?" The Gerudo champion asked, putting a hand on her hip. The princess sighed, staring out her window "Something about that knight... Link... is oddly familiar... but I just can't tell what it is". "Try to get some sleep" Urbosa said with concern "Maybe it'll come to you tomorrow." -To be continued...
