• ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • hi, it's me lyra, and today i'll be addressing some issues on scratch. i've been on scratch since april on various accounts (wow that long already?) but in the past month i've begun to notice there are some problems- some small, some big. i want to share my veiws on fame, art theft, homophobia, impersonation and studio raiding! this is pretty harsh but read on if you wish • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • 1. Fame ‣ this includes f4f, advertising and generic platformers. ‣ i feel like an alarming amount of scratchers are just 8-10 year olds who want fame. ‣ let me just point this out: scratch fame means NOTHING. NOTHING at all. NOBODY in the rest of your life will care if you had 10,000 followers on scratch. wow, there's people on youtube and instagram etc with millions of followers/subscribers. harsh, but true. scratch fame doesn't matter. ‣ now let's go to f4f- you know all f4f gets you is followers, right? the people who follow you in f4f probably don't even look at your projects. and what's the use of having thousands of followers if all your projects only have a few veiws? you want to be featured and front paged, right? followers don't get you there. ‣ now advertising. i have one thing to say: stop. just stop. it does you more bad than good. nobody really looks at your projects from advertising. it does nothing. it's also incredibly disrespectful to the owner of the project or profile you're advertising on. ‣ generic platformers... they're ok. if it's your first platformer, go for it! it's fine if it's a bit generic, but make it interesting. BUT if it's your 10th, 30th, 50th platformer... that's a WHOLE different story. obviously all you want is fame. but if you take a look at famous scratchers, do you see any generic platformers on their profiles? no? thought so. • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • 2. Art Theft and Impersonation ‣ asjgdkfhkskdhfjfkh ‣ not good guys, not good at all ‣ about a week ago, it was brought to my attention by a friend of mine that a user who shall remain unnamed had completely copied me- by that i mean stolen all my art, copied my projects, wiwo and about me, the whole thing. the only thing they hadn't copied was my username basically. they'd been doing this for two days, in which time they'd gotten compliments, made friends, got followers, all because of 'their' art. ‣ well. ‣ it made me feel so mad, i completely freaked. please, please do not EVER impersonate someone or steal their art. please. it's a horrible feeling. • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • 3. Studio Raiding ‣ this is when someone deletes all the description, title, managers, curators and projects from a studio. ‣ this happened to me and an irl friend, when someone raided her studio, and i heard it happened to the ikea stans studio too. ‣ ohmigosh, just stop. it's not funny. it only makes people angry lol. nobody thinks you're cool because of it, and it doesn't get you famous. • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • 4. Homophobia ‣ there are many problems in the irl world, two of which are homophobia and racism. ‣ racism hasn't got to scratch much i don't think, but homophobia is definitely a problem. ‣ it annoys the heck out of me how people use religion as an excuse to hate on lgbtq+ people. people say the bible says gay people are bad or whatever rubbish you want to call them but it DOESN'T say that. No. And if it does, which i'm sure it doesn't (i'm not religious), then it's wrong. being lgbtq+ is perfectly natural. do you know what's NOT natural? technology. do you say that's a sin? uh no. ‣ to be clear, i'm not hating on christians, i'm hating on homophobes. and i'm not saying every christian is a homophobe, because that's FAR from the truth!!! ‣ it also annoys me when people say that they don't support lgbtq+, but they're NOT homophobic. uhh, yes you are. it's like not supporting the fact people with skin colours OTHER than white exist. hm. think about how you are the one in the wrong, not the lgbtq+ community. lgbtq+ people cannot help it they're that way, and they don't deserve to be discriminated for it. • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ‣ i think that's the end of my rant. ‣ i'm happy to have a debate in the comments but, don't be rude or start arguments because, i don't want to argue. ‣ bai • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ •
• ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • credits ‣ very long rant by me ‣ thumbnail by me • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ • ◦ •
