They seemed to be arguing about something, possibly how to fix the crops. One left with a scowl, while the other went to tend to the animals, which were in a big wooden barn. Demeter saw her chance and leapt down from her perch in the tree, 'working her magic' to grow the rice crops. When she was done, she scurried into a bush just as the scowling farmer came back. He gasped in awe when he saw the rice, and yelled for his wife to come and take a look. She lashed her tail out of pure habit, darted away.
