Press 1 for the full image, 2 for the semi-zoomed image, and 3 for the image at its full size (which is huge XD). Then, move your mouse around to view different parts of the image! Did I spend way too much time on this? Maybe XD I've been super into Victorian era fashion for several years now though, so most of the research was mostly just about specifics. (also I've been wanting to do something like this for awhile...) The moment I saw this contest I knew I wanted to take a Star Wars character and plop them in a historical era--Ahsoka's one of my favorite characters (and the late Victorian era is one of my favorite eras in fashion) so I decided to combine the two! Notes/Insight (I'm starting from the top of the drawing down): - The fashion is from the LATE Victorian era. Still technically the Victorian era, but I wanted to clarify that because fashion definitely changed a lot throughout the era. - Her hair is inspired by the Gibson Girl look (and the curls were initially inspired by the Pickford Sausage Curls of the 1920s) - BUT neither of those terms or concepts existed in the late Victorian era. Hairstyles of a similar style did though, and those are what I used as reference images to create her hairstyle - Her hair coloration is the same as her montrals and lekku, but I decided not to include the ornament she wears on them because I couldn't figure out how to make it fit in the era - Her outfit adheres to the coloring of teenage Ahsoka, for the most part. - The stripes on the lapels of her jacket are inspired by the armbands she wears, but in the color of her belt - The clasps on the jacket are the clasps on her lower arm-cuff-things and her boots in the original (clasps in a similar style were common in the era) - The beads that drape across her skirt were one of the only areas I deviated from historical accuracy on--I couldn't find any dresses that had this design from the era, but there were some similar-ish designs that used ribbon instead - The reason I deviated from accuracy is that I wanted to include her belt and the kite-ish shaped thing that hangs from it (maybe you noticed that's the bead in the middle that's a different color?) so I decided to include them as ornaments on her skirt - Her bustled skirt is a design common in the 1870s-1890s (that's a loose estimate though) - Also I really like the bustled skirts of the late Victorian era and so I had SO MUCH FUN drawing it :-) - Oh, yeah. Coloration. Her bustle and jacket are the color of her top and skirt in the original character, and her underskirt (the grey thing) is colored like her leggings - The stripes on the hem of the underskirt are colored like her boots (same color as her skirt and top) - This dress isn't from an exact reference image--I looked through a ton of images to find the various elements of her outfit, so major credit to every historical fashion blogger whose site I spent way too much time on XD - Her walking stick is her lightsaber :-P Walking sticks were popular in the late Victorian era, and so I decided to turn her lightsaber into her walking stick (there was a little historical inaccuracy here, because the orb at the top wasn't really a thing, but I wanted it to be XD) Credits: - All art is by me - Art done in Firealpaca - Final adjustments (background blur) done in Photoshop - I got the image to be full resolution using Illustrator - I figured out how to write the code to move the image around by looking at the code used in art projects - Credit to the internet for supporting my historical fashion obsession XD - Obviously credit to Star Wars for the character of Ahsoka - Music is "The Aviators" by Helen Jane Long (one of my favorite songs of all time!) - Also thanks for StarWarsGirl111 for hosting this contest! It was super fun!
