Oh hey. I do love me some Avatar. This is a little bit of a work in progress still, but it's just about done so I figured I may as well share it. This is Jaye's ATLA AU reference for CringeClan's Avatar Studio. ^^ I noticed a lot of the references were changing some colors of their ocs to match the series colors more, so I went with changing their gray colors to a more suitable red. The entire project is activated by clicking the buttons as they appear. Translation for the sake of poor quality: SCROLL ONE + GENERAL INFO: Name: Jaye Age: 18 Pronouns: They/Them Ability: Firebender SCROLL TWO: Earrings + Jewelry: Optional - Can be on either ear as shown in the drawing, but preferably as written in the scroll. Bronze ornaments hanging from both ears. Three bronze rings in the singular braid in their bangs. Glider: Acquired by "High-risk trading" from the Air Nomads. A black staff with triangular and circular carvings. Brown wings in the shape of "passive soaring". Tatters not optional. Jaye cannot fly with said glider nor use the staff for anything other than basic defense as they do not have an Airbending ability. They can however, glide for very short periods of time with the use of their Firebending ability. The passive soaring wings are a type used by aves. Passive soaring shapes have slots in them to help the bird take advantage of "thermals" or waves of hot air so they do not have to rely so heavily on air currents in order to fly. Jaye mimics this phenomenon by the use of their firebending in order to use the rising gasses from the flames to channel through the rips in the glider so they can utilize it to the best of their ability. Their Fire Nation hood also bears the same tatters so that they can trap more heat in order to prevent the glider from catching fire. The tail of the glider bears similar holes, and is fashioned in the shape of a bluejay's tail in order for precision halting and abrupt steering. It's nowhere near as efficient as an Airbending ability would be, but hey, it gets them places. It's also mandatory if they wish to keep up with their companion, a stellar jay named Key. The bronze rings hanging from the staff don't really do anything they're just there for the aesthetic. Jaye's usual Unlymariijah marking has been dimmed with scorch marks and branded with the insignia of the Fire Nation. To sum up their backstory, Jaye was born in the Fire Islands, but was taken in as a teenager and raised by a family of Air Nomads from Air Temple Island once they were able to earn their trust and affection. They then experienced a defect in their ability, leading them to be taught that they would have to harder than the usual in order to obtain the goals they reach for. Having left home in order to observe the ways of the Firebenders and learn what they wish, Jaye is now a secretive third-party wanderer on the outskirts of the Fire Islands and beyond until their return.
