TWO “Can! I thought I could trust you!” Rice shouted. Can nervously replied with “I-I….. I had to.” Grymdon ran out of the tunnel, sobbing. A few members of The Council ran after him, wielding their swords, most made out of around five toothpicks. The rats quickly caught up to him. A few guards also came. They tied a piece of string around Grymdon, then carried him away. Rice couldn't see where they took him, but guessed that it was probably to jail. Rice turned to Can. “R-Rice, I’m sorry. I wish I could make it up to you. But, it was the right thing to do.” Can said. “I-It’s the law. We have to take trespassers to jail. Especially a mouse.” Can walked out of the tunnel, hanging his head low, knowing he upset his only sister. “R-Rice? You can see him one last time before he goes to prison.” This got Rice’s interest. “Okay.” Rice followed Can to the side of a dome, where a large hole stood. It had two guards at the sides. Rat and Can entered. They saw Grymdon chained with string on a wall. He had his mouth tied up as well. When he saw Rice, he Started to cry with hope he would be saved. But, Rice just said “I’m sorry that this pebble-brain got you here, but I know you’re innocent.” Grymdon did what Rice thought was sadness. A guard came out of a tunnel that led deeper down. “This filthy mouse came here to rat territory, so he is getting imprisoned. You can come see if you want.” Can left, but Rice stayed to see that the guard tied up Grymdon with the strings that were on the wall. The guard put on a harness that attached to a long string on Grymdon. As the guard walked over to the hole leading deeper, Grymdon was dragged along. He was dragged far into the tunnel. The tunnel had pits on the sides, most of them had a mouse in them. Most also had a smell of death, as if a mouse had died and nobody cleaned it out good enough. Most of the mice had lots of cuts, scratches, and scars. The guard dragged Grymdon to a pit then stopped. The guard took the string off his mouth, then lowered him into the pit. The guard left and went to go to the main room. “No! That’s terrible! These are innocent mice!” The guard ignored Rice, who continued to protest against the mice being there. When they got to the room, the guard stared at her. “Go home, kid. It’s not much better for us guards. We only get fed once a day, and we get forced to be here.” Rice left. She didn’t head in the direction of her home, though. She didn’t know where she was wanting to go. She let her feet carry her away. She wanted to get what she had seen out of her head. The stench had not left her nose. She knew she should be getting home soon, but Can would ask questions about Grymdon. She headed to the city, where there were many domes housing humans. She climbed onto the top of one and went inside using a small hole. She went on the top of a tall cabinet and fell asleep on a cloth. In the morning, a human walked near and saw her. They screamed and picked up a device the size of a mousetrap and spoke into it. Rice couldn’t decipher what was being said, but knew it was trouble. Rice froze in fear. After a bit, a person walked in. They had a mask on. The first person left. The person still there sprayed a gas at Rice. She fled to the ceiling, feeling dizzy. She got out and ran off the side. The person didn’t chase her. After a while, Rice stopped running. She sat down and looked around. This wasn’t a familiar place. It was mouse territory.
