Chapter 7: Mephiles again. Shadow frowned and avoided looking Channa in the eyes “Yeah...” The grey hedgehog put her hands on her hips “Tell the truth Shadow, what’s wrong?” “Ugh...” he sighed, knowing Channa wouldn’t give up until he told her the truth “I... I guess I’m sort of bothered by Mephiles... and what he did to you...” “Well, I’m fine now.” “Yeah but--” “Did someone say my name?” asked an oddly familiar voice. Mephiles stood a few feet away from two hedgehogs, Glacier was at his side and wore an evil smirk, "Now what was it you were saying about me?" Shadow stood protectively in front of Channa "What do you want?" he snapped, his voice full of rage. "Being a little cranky are we?" Glacier asked, her smirk grew bigger "I'll give you something to REALLY be angry about." "Bring it" Shadow muttered through gritted teeth. "There's no need to get so worked up, I didn't come here to fight" Mephiles said with a small chuckle. "Then what did you come here for?" Channa inquired. "I simply wanted to have a little... chat, with you and your friends" he replied in the most friendly voice he could muster. "About what?" "It's something I have to discuss with all of your friends, please bring them out here so we could talk." Mephiles sounded a bit too friendly. "And why should we believe YOU?" Shadow asked, his teeth still gritted, and his gloved fists were as well. "Because I have a gift, but you can't see it until everyone is present." Shadow was about the protest but Channa stopped him "We should probably talk this over with the others, you saw what Mephiles did to me, it's best to get some back-up." She looked Glacier in the eyes "I'll go get my friends." The cat smirked and put one hand on her hip "Alright, we'll be waiting for you." Channa and .Shadow ran inside and locked the door. Silver came down the steps "Is something going on... Shadow looks really agitated." "Mephiles is back" Channa replied "He says he wants to have a talk with everyone. Sonic dashed over to the group, along with Espio, "Oh I'll speak with him, with my fi--" "He says he doesn't want to fight" the female hedgehog said cutting him off. "But how can we believe him?" Epsio inquired. "We don't" Shadow growled "I say we battle him." Sonic nodded and stormed over to the front door, he grasped the knob and twisted it, opening the hatch. They all stepped outside, Channa folded her arms across her chest "Alright, we're all here. What is it you wanted to discuss?" she inquired. Mephiles held out a small circular machine, it was tiny enough to fit in the palm of his hand, "I only wanted to give you this gift" was his answer. The dark hedgehog put the object on the ground, and took a step back. "What is it?" Silver asked, moving forward. "I don't know..." Espio answered "It doesn't look harmful." The chameleon lifted the machine off the ground, he turned it over in his hand a few times, to check for any secret weapons or hazards. He noticed a round button, "What's this?" he asked. "How should I know?" Glacier snapped "I wasn't the one who gave it to you!" Espio tossed the object toward the teal cat's feet "I won't endanger any of my friends, there's something up with that button." Glacier's cat walked up to the machine, she touched it gently with her small paws and the ground started to shake wildly. "What did it do?" Shadow questioned. Mephiles didn't answer, on the ground was a large red portal, it was pulling everyone toward it. Sonic tried running in the opposite direction, but he got gravitated in the light's direction. Channa held on to a tree root that came out of the soil, she started to lose her grip. and then she fell in.
