Jen had a perfect family, funny, loving, happy. She was the middle child, with a younger dog, brother and an older sister. They would play games together, go hiking, they were like a perfect poster family. This all changed when she turned 11 though, she finally decided to come out as a gay trans demi-girl. Her parents took it horribly. Saying things like “your still a boy” “you’ll never be a girl” “your a boy, that’s how god made you” and even started hurting her physically. She finally decided to leave. She didn’t know where she belonged but she knew she didn’t belong here. She left at night. When she found the woods, she ran and ran until the morning. When morning came, she finally realized what she had done. She had nowhere to go. No family that loved her. No friends. All she had was her memories of when her family was whole. She cried for longer than she ever had before. She was hopeless. Then she heard something. She ran toward the sound, and found people. They looked like her. Dirty, distressed. “Who- who are you?” The first person said. Looking empathetic towards Jen, like they’ve felt what she might be feeling before. “I- I’m Jen” She said while catching her breath. “But you look like a boy! How is your name Jen?” The Second person said. Jen thought for a second, wondering if she should say she’s trans, or just say her parents were weird. She decided to tell them, what could they do that hasn't already been done anyway? “I’m a trans girl” She said nervously, hoping they would be nice, they were her only hope of surviving more than a few days. The two people whispered to each other, and Jen got more and more distressed. She prayed and prayed to the god she didn’t even know she believed in before. “Okay, follow us,” The first person finally said. “Oh yeah, and by the way, I’m Jack” Jen thought to herself, this person looked like a girl, not a boy. Could they be trans too? She smiled a giant smile, thinking she found someone like her. “Oh yeah, my name is Anne” They said in a smile. They were walking for a while, but all Jen could think about is what will be at the end of the journey. Are they really nice? Or just luring me into a trap. She finally saw a light at the end of the woods. It was a mansion. An actual mansion! She was so happy she found a home, but was still skeptical about everything that might happen. “What is this place?” She asked hoping for the best, planning for the worst. “It’s a place where everyone is loved. A place where we don’t judge you for you skin, gender, sexual orientation. A place where everyone can live and prosper. A place where everyone can live, laugh, and love” Anne asked. Jen started crying. She finally found where she belonged. She just knew it. It had to be. She must’ve been where she was meant to be.
