Rice frantically looked around. What would happen if I got found? She thought. Suddenly, she saw a small melanistic (all black) mouse pop out from behind a rock. “Who are you?” the mouse squeaked. “You’re a rat! You look like who my brother was talking about.” Rice moved closer. “Who was he? I’m Rice. “He was called Grymdon. He got attacked and beaten up and kicked out for saying the truth. I got scared and ran away.” “I know him. Grymdon is a close friend. What’s your name?” “I’m Squeeze.” “You can stay with me. We can run away from here and away from the rats and mice, okay?” Squeeze nodded. “Can we go now?” Rice ran off “Come on! Let’s go!” After a while, they got out of anyone’s territory. They got to a place they could settle down. Then, suddenly, They felt a sharp pain in the back of their heads and passed out. They woke up tied up surrounded by possums. “Hey! What do you two creatures think you’re doin’ in our land?” one shouted. Rice and Squeeze looked at each other. “We can explain. We want both sides of the war to be at peace. Right now it’s just the two of us. We were looking for a place to stay.” Rice said. Squeeze was 11 too scared to move or say anything. She looked like a vibrating shadow. A possum walked through the crown and to the front. He was wearing a red cloth, and Rice guessed he was the king. “Very well then. You may be released.” Another possum intervened and said “No! They could go back and warn everyone about us! They can’t be trusted!” The king raised his voice and said “YOU WON’T TRUST A CHILD? GO SWITCH PLACES WITH THEM!” The king released Rice and Squeeze. He then chained up the other possum. “Do you want to stay chained forever or do you want to be kicked out”? The king said.
