"Orangepaw, Sandypaw, please come forward!" Orangepaw was very excited. Lightningstar was going to make him a warrior! And Sandypaw! He hoped that now that he was a warrior he'd finally ask if Sandypaw wanted to be his mate. "…you will now be known as Sandywhisker!" Uh oh. Orangepelt hadn't heard his own warrior name. "Orangepelt! Sandywhisker!" chanted LightClan. *Well, that's a relief.* "Hey, Orangepelt!" said Cloudfang, "Congratulations on being a warrior!" Cloudfang was Orangepelt's sister. "Thank you!" he said. "I've got to do my warrior vigil tonight, though." "Well, at least you'll be doing it with Sandywhisker." "I bet it will be boring! Was your vigil boring?" "I lived through it, didn't I? Now stop acting like an apprentice." An apprentice was the last thing he want to be compared to, now that he was a warrior. "I am NOT!" he retorted. Cloudfang stifled a laugh. *Sisters,* he thought to himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sandywhisker was so glad she was finally a warrior. She had just finished her warrior vigil. She should have been made a warrior around two moons ago. She didn't see why Orangepelt and her had to wait longer, just because they weren't good at battle training. After all, how many times would she be facing a battle? "Hey, Sandywhisker!" called out her sister, Shadepelt. "Amberwing from EarthClan wanted to talk to you for some reason. He was over by the border." "Huh! I wonder what he wants. Hope his clan is okay." Sandywhisker walked a short ways to the EarthClan border. “Amberwing?” “Um… Hi, Sandypaw…” He stared at his feet. “Whisker.” “Oh! You got your warrior name! Well, I…I…I was saying…” “WHAT were you saying?” demanded Sandywhisker. “I really like you Sandywhisker!” Amberwing blurted out. Sandywhisker was shocked. “You. Like. Me? Listen! You’re from EarthClan and I’m from LightClan. If you want me to be your mate, that would be against the warrior code! And besides, there’s already an obvious choice for your mate–Starfur! She obviously likes you.” "Starfur?" said Amberwing, confused. Sandywhisker walked away. "Clueless mouse-brain," she muttered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Our missing kit, Graykit has been found!" announced the WaterClan leader, Fallenstar, at the gathering. "Well.. he's certainly not a kit anymore, so we decided to give him his warrior assessment. He succeeded, and will now be know as Graysky!" Cats from all clans (mostly WaterCan) cheered. *This was too easy!* thought Graysky. *First, they accept me back into the clan, and then they make me a warrior? Bloodstar will be pleased with me.* "Graysky!" shouted Diamondheart. "Huh?" Graysky turned around. Diamondheart was the cat that had "rescued" Graysky. He had to admit to himself that he had considered staying in WaterClan with her as his mate–she was very nice. But, no! He had to fulfill Bloodstar's plans. "We have a new pair of mates in EarthClan, Starfur and Amberwing," said Amberstar. "Why they're so keen to announce it beats me." "Hi, Diamondheart!" said Graysky. "You seem pretty absorbed there, Graysky!" "Umm...I was just thinking. About stuff." "I bet you're glad that you were taken back into the clan!" "Yeah!" he half-lied. "It's awesome here!" "That's great! Now, you should be quieter, it's rude to talk so loudly while the leaders are updating us." "Sorry," he mumbled. He thought back to Bloodstar's plan. He would find the perfect chance to get it carried out, he knew he would. But did he want to?
