Lii's Morning Coffee Rants || Part 1: Gender and Sexuality,,, norms? thumbnail; @tired-flight music; airplane mode by Limbo (for you to vibe to <3) NOTE: I wrote this when I was sleep-deprived. This is lightly proofread. DISCLAIMER: The following are my views and opinions. I respect your choices, please respect mine. If you feel as if you may be angered by the rant, *do not read on.* I'm all up for civil debates, but not full-on arguments. You are making the choice to read this. :) ------------------------- So recently I've seen... A lot of toxic stereotypes relating around the LGBT+ community. Some are more widely known than others, but it still makes me uncomfortable, as I'm pansexual (and my gender is all over the place smh). Is this really how people outside the LGBT+ community view us? It made me slightly worried that people thought of us in such ways. Sure, some of the stereotypes might fit specific people, but that doesn't mean everyone is like that. I decided to go on a bit of a rant about it. I hope you see where I'm coming from, but if you don't, I'm all up for a *civil* and *polite* debate. <3 - Gay Stereotypes - I feel like this is the most common stereotype that I find online and in social media. Basically, according to stereotype, gays wear pink, all the time, since it's a "girly" color; they also wear skirts and crop tops. Now, there's nothing wrong with being a crossdresser or wearing pink. Skirts aren't only for females. But the gays who don't wear skirts or frilly dresses are also valid. People should know this... One of my gay friends recently came out to our old homeroom class (aka our "friend group") and a girl responded with "but u dont wear skirts lmao" I understand if she was joking, but that made him feel very invalid, and he even tried changing himself, such as talking and dressing differently than he had before. It's horrible to think about. - Lesbian Stereotypes - The lesbian stereotype says that lesbian girls basically can't be girly. This is the complete opposite of the gay stereotype. They can look however they want to look! They can have long hair, short hair, no hair. They can wear skinny jeans, poofy skirts, overalls. It doesn't matter, and it shouldn't make anyone any less valid. - Bisexual Stereotypes - Okay, so, for some reason there's this stereotype where bisexuals can't make up their mind and female bisexuals like females more and male bisexuals like them equally? Okay, so, bisexuals can have a preference, yes, but bi women don't have to like women more. It's fine if you do, don't get me wrong! As I said many times before, everyone is valid. Also if you're a nonbinary, genderfae, genderfaun, genderqueer, or anything of the sort and you're bi, you're also valid!!! We love you and accept you <3 Come give me a hug <333 - Trans Stereotypes (Male and Female) - I do not get why trans people can't just be accepted as their desired gender... For some reason, people think that trans females are very,,, peppy and arrogant and stubborn and- Yeah, you get it. Though some of them might be like this, not all of them are. Please respect them. Another stereotype is that trans males are like the runt?? There is,,, a lot of things wrong with that. Though I'll keep it short; sure, some of them might be the,, "runt." Not all of them are. People have diverse and unique personalities. - Alright, this is the end folks - Have a good one! Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. <333
