Minor Blood Warning!!! This is Dune. Yes, he is scarred on his hands and arms, and across his nose. They are not from him doing this stuff to himself. Except for right by his sleeves, the ones that look like fingers clawed him. That was an accident that happened one time when he got too scared in his sleep, and was sick with the flu. Self harm for him is usually just bruising his fists or toes, but only in his sleep. It's a subconscious fear of his biological parents. He actually takes really good care of himself, eats super healthy, exercises regularly (martial arts for self-defense, walks/runs with Doug the dog, and kayaking in the park across the street from his house). He maintains the garden at home, and lives with his adoptive dad and his new wife. Dune also meets regularly with his counselor about his fear of his parents, and is an avid reader of anything and everything. He also likes music, flying, and space, and wants to someday be a pilot of some sort, but not for the military or something boring. Maybe exploration. The scars on his hands and arms are mostly from his biological parents, who were trying to find a serum that could speed up the healing process, but failed to do so before he escaped at the age of nine, having been chained in the basement and just come into one of the powers the serums gave him: super strength. They would cut his hands and arms/wrists and ankles to see if they had successfully managed to speed up the healing process with their serums. They ended up also performing other experiments without his knowledge, knowing full-well that they were going to make him like the Syldori, a humanoid alien species able to survive in just about any environment. With that, they had succeeded.
