You can pick a sponsor and then land your pod on the lunar surface to start your journey. You can press on the vehicle to move it but beware of craters as they can't get over them and have to go around. The mining facility gets you money, the research facility gets you research and the tech increases the money you get from the vehicle and building! You can resupply and get any of the three vehicles and to use the flattener, make sure it can't move by clicking somewhere, and then press p near a crater to flatten!
