This version has a button that allows you to hide or show instructions. One player can program the Bee Bot, with the instructions showing, then hide the instructions and share their screen and press Go. The other players have to watch the Bee Bot to deduce what the instructions were. You will be using this Bee Bot simulator to work through the questions on the handout with your group. Although this is a group effort, each student should all answer the questions on their handout (or the paper on which you will label and answer the questions, or the Google Form, depending on what instructions your teacher gives you). You will be using this simulations to see how to model signed integers and their addition and subtraction. For each task you will give the Bee Bot your instructions by pressing the Forward & Backward buttons, the Turn 180º arrow, and the Pause button (if you need the Bee Bot to go slower). These instructions are stored in a list. Press GO once you have entered all the instructions representing the expression you are modeling to have the Bee Bot follow them. NOTE: The Bee Bot must start at the origin (zero) and must start facing right. To move it to the start position and/or have it face forward press "Home". To reset everything, including clearing the list, click "Reset". To delete your last entry in the list of instructions, press "Delete last" *NOTE: real Bee Bots have two 90º buttons, but since we are staying on the number line we are using a single turn 180º button instead.
This is a virtual version of the activity I created with Patrick B and Anthony R at the i.lab of the Magellan International School. Since we can't be there in person, I wanted to find an alternative. The project by plengyel got me started on my first-ever Scratch project.
