It's hard to say things like this and if I say anything that's offensive, please comment and I'll fix it. So, where did this all start? You may say with the death of George Floyd. People got really angry with that. But how and why did he die? My mom told me about what happened but I don't remember most of it. I think it started because Floyd was using fake money and the police found out, so 3 police officers arrested him. When they told Floyd to get in the police car he didn't want to go in because he had something that makes you scared in small spaces like the back of a police car. So instead of putting him in, the officer in charge of the 3 put his knee on his chest or neck really hard. After a little bit, Floyd died. Why did the officer do this? It was because of racism. I don't really like saying the word because if you say it wrongly, it can be really offensive. So again, please comment and tell me if I say it wrongly. But where did racism start? It started with slavery. Slavery started in the 1700s I think for America. Then the North got rid of slavery, but the South kept it. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln who didn't like slavery saw that it would tear the US apart. So he declared war on the South. Although the North(or Union) won, there was no slavery, but there was racism. White people treated African-Americans badly. White people called them a name that was so horrible and mean. Even the police called them that. We are should trust in the police, but for African-Americans, it was getting very hard to trust them. This continued until Martin Luther King stepped up. Now, back to modern day. People who are angry with this are protesting, but some protests have gone too far. In these protests people have thrown trash and rocks at police officers. You can get why the people got so angry with the police. I think George Floyd had a brother among the protesters and he is so angry from the death of his brother. I would be really angry also if one of my siblings were killed by a police officer for no apparent reason. That would really tip me off. But we should also pray to God, He created all things. And He created us humans equal, even if we are African-American, even if we have different skin color, we are still children of God, and He says that all of us are created equal. God bless you.
