Breccson Awakes After carefully attending to Breccson for the rest of the evening, Mica and Luc laid down for some much needed rest. They had not rested long when a large grunt sent Mica racing towards the bed in which the man lied. Mica shut the entrance door behind her. Luc ran to the door to eavesdrop. “Breccson?” Luc heard Mica ask. Then Luc heard Breccson speak a strange language. “Devika? Maya?” “Yes, yes. It’s alright. I’m so glad to see you!” “Me, too.” “Why are you here? You weren’t supposed to come until the boy was 16. That’s in three years time.” Mica asked. Luc tried to come up with a reason that this man had to wait three years to visit. “Listen. I know I wasn’t supposed to show my face in this land…” “You must be more careful! You can’t be caught while you stay. If Thyan finds out you’re here…” Mica urgently said. Who is Thyan? Luc was completely lost in the conversation. “That’s why I came! Thyan is dead. There is more that I’ll tell you later.” “Dead? Oh, how wonderful! Now Luc and I can go back to Lezphya! Everything can be as it was!” Mica joyously sang. Lezphya? Where is that? Luc didn’t know what to think. “No it can’t! Do you remember Grygor? He has taken over. He is a terrible ruler, even worse than Thyan. I have seen his work. He is worse than his father. Too much passion and ambition. You must take Luc and flee.” Mica sighed. “I don’t believe it. Grygor? He seemed such a wonderfully talented boy. I don’t know why he could be worse than his father.” “It surprises me as much as it does you.” “How’s Keanson’s daughter?” “You don’t have to call her that. And her name is now Kiera.” Breccson growled. Luc was thoroughly confused. “I know I shouldn’t, but you can never know who might be listening in on your conversation.” Mica said softly. She stared at the door behind which Luc was hiding. Women always know everything, Luc grudgingly thought. He silently slipped away from behind the door and faked sleep on his mattress as Mica slowly entered the room, shutting the door behind her. Finally, Luc fell asleep to dreams of his father with eyes twinkling, and that strange girl with a crown being placed upon her golden head. He felt a powerful longing to be with both of them, and missed his father deeply.
