Charles cares a lot about what people think of them, so they do try to not speak often. It's impossible, though. Likes : herping, finding and keeping bugs either for a collection or as pets, exploring forests, and any outdoor activity that involves nature Dislikes : mosquitoes [ I mean, they're hella annoying, who would even like them -- ], extremely loud noises, hot environments, and their family Extra : with their immense love for insects, they dream of being an entomologist someday Backstory : below ^-^ ---- [ P R O L O G U E ] "Get out!" A voice ordered, shoving a mortified Charles out the door. It was all so sudden. Everything was normal (or at least, what they thought was normal in a family) up until their parents found out they were in a secret relationship. With a man. Their mother and father raised Charles a boy and expected them to always be one. They wanted them to have a good job, marry a pretty woman, and raise a family like everybody else. But what if that's what they didn't want? It certainly didn't appeal to Charles, for sure. They just wanted to live happily ever after with their boyfriend, Ronnie. He meant everything to Charles, they'd even die for him, too. But now they realized that... Maybe it just can't happen anymore. Maybe they can't stay with Ronnie no longer. Maybe they can't have a happy life together like they've both dreamed of. Maybe- "Out, out, out," the same voice yelled, stopping until Charles was shoved out of the house. They fell straight down to the rock-sand path and grunted, looking up at their father in distress. They couldn't process what was happening at all. "I- Can't I at least get my things?" They asked meekly. "No," their father replied angrily. "You don't deserve any of those things anymore." "But please, dad, I just-" "No means no. I'm not your father and you're no son of mine. Get the hell out of here now." Charles had a hurt look on their face, frowning at him. But their expression quickly went from sadness to shock in a matter of seconds when they noticed a window open up from the second floor. Their prized possessions were casually being thrown out the window by his mother, and there was nothing they could do. Their insect display cases shattered into a million pieces; their small treasure chest filled with items they thought were valuable were now broken. Every single thing in their room was tossed out without a care. Charles sighed shakily and finally brought themself to stand up, reluctantly walking away without a word. They couldn't believe it. It didn't feel real. Was this all a dream? Were their valuables truly saved? Are their parents really this unaccepting? 'I'll wake up soon,' Charles thought. But they couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps this was actually happening. It's all just a nightmare they haven't woken up from yet... 'Right?' -- [ C H A P T E R | O N E ] Seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. Time passed by slowly for Charles. They'd sit down at the corner of a convenience store or lay down in a bench to kill time and get some rest. No matter what they did, though, they would eventually be shooed off by someone. They were basically a wayfarer at this point, moving from place to place in search of food, warmth, and shelter. But it was difficult; they had no money with them, which meant they couldn't afford a cheap snack or a bottle of water in case they were thirsty. There wasn't even a single shelter in Charles' area, since nobody was homeless here. They'd had to beg others for a meal and a drink and something to sleep on, even just for one night. But no one would pay attention to them. [ C O N T I N U E D ]
[ C O N T I N U E D ] Charles sighed when a random stranger yelled at them to get off a bench they were napping on, and they unhappily did so. Why? Why did it seem like the world was against them? They weren't out to anybody (except their boyfriend, of course), but it felt like everybody knew Charles was a demiboy who got kicked out of their house for having a relationship with a guy who happened to be transgender. It wasn't wrong in their eyes, but to most of society... Yeah. It was wrong. Unfortunately. Charles shook their head and exhaled softly, trying to get rid of their intrusive thoughts. However, one of these thoughts stood out to them that they just couldn't ignore. 'Maybe I should just leave the city and go to the countryside, or live in a cabin in a forest that's far away from my family.' That didn't sound like too bad of an idea, actually. Staying as far as possible from their parents and living in the countryside or a forested area? They'd be safe and happy. 'But first,' they thought. 'I need to find a job.' 'And I need to find Ronnie, too.' ---- Okay, so,, that's it for now, I'm way too tired to write more but I'll update this soon!! ---- 9 / 17 / 2020 Thumbnail : @FlowerCat4444, edited by me Character [ Charles / Scout ] : currently belongs to @FlowerCat4444 Story : mine :>>
