The True Naming Agaetí. What Arget had been looking had been looking forward to. Her brother, Kuldr, already had the name he wanted picked out, and if he didn't get it, he would accept it, but be upset. But what would he actually get? What would I get? she wondered. Thorta, which meant Free Spirit? Adurna, of the sea? She had no idea. In her tribe of wolves, the chief chose the names. She was the chief's daughter. Her father would not take into account what his children wanted for their names. She thought maybe she would get a favorable name as his daughter, but he didn't give children advantages. So, she might get a name like Brakka, which meant Slacker. She imagined what would happen to her status if she got the name Brakka. Her friends would all ridicule her. She would be dropped to the lowest position, maybe even kicked out. She would be starved. She would die. "Arget!" her mother called. "Time for the Agaetí!" Already? she thought. Time flies when your anticipating what could happen if you get the bad names... "Coming!" she said. She ran to her mother, and walked to the ceremony. "And now we begin the Agaetí." Her father stood at the front of the cave. "Kuldr! Step forward please." "Kuldr?" Her brother was late to the True Naming!! "I'm here!" he said. "I was... helping Eka... catch her son." Lies. Eka's son was here. "Whatever. Get up here." her father said. Kuldr walked up. "I name you Thorta. Your Free Spirit must not get in the way of your studies, Thorta. You will need to step up into my place one day as chief." "Thank you, Father." Kuldr bowed his head, and walked away. "Arget!" She stepped forward. He whispered to her, "We all know your brother is not fit to command. You will need to help him from behind the Omega position." "Yes, Father." She would help. "I name you Rakr. Your exceptional use of forethought will bring you to great places, but you must not get distracted from the task at hand." "Thank you, Father." She bowed and backed away. "Well, how's my favorite little daydreamer today?" her bother asked. "I'm fine." she said. The Agaetí was short. "You are dismissed." They left. Their father walked over to them. "You both will rise to greatness. Let those names guide you to it." "Yes, Father." "Excuse me, Father." Kuldr- no, she must not call him that. He is Thorta now. Thorta looked concerned. "There is an enemy tribe very close to our borders. That's what I was doing, and why I was late to the Agaetí. I didn't want to alarm our Tribe." Rakr was shocked. The enemy tribe's presence will ruin the tribes calm state of mind. "Are you sure?" the chief said. "Yes, Father." "Then I will go and get my trusted friends, and hunt them down." He left, just as another wolf ran up and told him that another tribe is attacking the camp. "Thorta, Rakr! Be prepared to fight!" their father yelled. "YEs SIR!" the children yelled. The family charged to the fight, armed with teeth and claws. Rakr took down 2 with ease. Thorta was having trouble, being trapped in a circle of enemies, so she went to help him. She tackled the biggest one, and the twins killed him together. The others in the group all ran scared, and wolves from her tribe killed them all. There were many wolves left that weren't on her side. "I didn't need your help." Thorta said. "And you would have been able to get out of there alive then?" she asked him, as she clawed a wolfs face. "I certainly didn't need help from you. You're just a GIRL!" he said and stormed off. He didn't mean that, he didn't mean that, she thought as she was tackled by a wolf. He couldn't have meant that. Her foreleg was hurting, but she didn't care. Her feelings mattered more then her physical condition to her. She pretended to be dead so everyone else would leave her alone. The battle raged on around her. One by one, the enemy wolves died, until her tribe had won. She lifted her head as her mother came to check on her. She stood up and limped to the healing cave. Her father was there, wounded very badly. The healer was hovering over him, and only looked up when he scented the blood of Rakr. Rakr was herded over to an empty slytha, where her leg was treated. She fell asleep, wondering why her brother had turned so cold at heart. After a while, she got up. Her mother told her to head outside. As she walked, she thought about her brother, wondered what happened to him. She then saw the healer, her mother, and her brother at the front of the cave. She joined them. "The chief... has left this world, and is now walking the Star Path. His successor is... Rakr." "WHATTTT!!" the tribe was outraged. Her brother was outraged, and her mother, her mother looked... proud. "My Vor told me before he died that he wanted his daughter to become chieftess." Rakr was shocked. "I... me? Are you sure?" "Yes, Rakr. You are the first female Chief." There were tears in her mother's eyes. She took a deep breath. "I accept."
