He lowered his tail as he entered the grove he held sacred as a spot where he could be alone with nature. While he sat calmly, watching the fireflies buzz around while a crescent moon hung near the horizon, a yellow, summery glow as if it were reflecting the season. But something off caught his eye. Something was shuffling on the other side of the flowery grove, and it wasn't something just passing by. "Hello?" he called. Prism sat up, and decided to investigate who or what was shuffling in the berry bushes at the opposite side of the small grove. He brushed past the flowers, which were giving off their usual soft glow. "Prism," the voice spoke, and a deep blue Kitsune came out of the bushes. "Ah!" Prism leapt back, not expecting it to be more than a badger scuffling for some late night berries. She shook some small twigs and leaves that had stuck to her pelt; and looked to Prism. "Hello," she spoke in a sophisticated tone. "You seem perfect for something that needs to be done," she spoke, looking Prism thoroughly through. "For what?" he stayed a couple steps away, ready to scramble off if the Kitsune posed a threat. "Well, you can find out yourself," she looked up at the sky, and over to the moon which was lowering beneath the tree line. "What?" Prism asked; still confused. The Kitsune padded backwards and into the pushes again, walking away. "I wonder what the was about." he shook his head. He turned back around, about to head back to his spot. He crossed through the flowers again, and settled into a comfortable sleep. Prism awoke, expecting to see a milky white sky as dawn blurred into morning. But instead he was in a meadow, yet it was much different than the one he had fallen asleep in. He quickly realized that it was just a calming dream, and proceeded to ease his muscles before walking among the glowing flowers. "This is a beautiful place," he mumbled under his breath. "Well of course it is!" a voice caught him off guard. He peered to his side, to see a grey wolf sitting and admiring the flowers. She had deep black eyes, yet instead of reflecting evil they seemed to shine with the calming feels of the night sky. "Who are you, and why are you in my dream?!" Prism sputtered. He was surprised, and angered, to see an unfamiliar face in his dream. "Oh, well, I guess this is the dreamcape," she spoke. She gave a soft sigh and stood. "Who are you?" she asked. "I'd first like to know who you are," Prism shot back, his mind swirling with questions. "Well alright, that's understandable," she spoke. "I'm Skye." she answered. "Well, hello Skye. I'm Prism." he nodded softly. "What are you doing here, anyways?" he took a look around, taking in the beauty of the so called dreamscape. "I just wanted to visit the meadow, before heading back to the spirit realm," Skye answered, looking around at the flowers. "Glowing Belles are just so beautiful." "Yes, they are- wait, spirit realm? Are you, dead?" Prism stopped midway sentence as he processed what Skye had said. "Yes, but my stories are not what you are here for," she spoke. "I'm not here for anything-" Prism spoke, cutting himself off while he tried to think about why he'd be there. "I can tell why," Skye spoke, walking up to Prism. She spoke words that almost sounded like an enchantment under her breath, but to soft to be heard. She then looked up to face Prism. "Midnight sent you here." she finished. "What-" Prism began to ask a question, but the world faded, and he awoke. For real this time. He could tell by the milky dawn sky and the Glowing Belles that populated the small grove, their light fading quickly. "I don't know what the was," he shook his ruffled fur, noticing something new. Swerving his head around as far as he could, he spotted two pairs of wings settled on his back and his tail was thinner, joined by another with two glowing ends. "What the-" he spoke, and noticed another off thing, two antennae on his head. "What on Earth happened?!" he jumped, fearing the worst, he was dead.
Rest of the story down here, spoiler warning! - - - - - - - - - - But instead of getting the answer he expected, the brush rustled and a familiar shape walked into the grove. It was the deep blue Kitsune from the night before. "I'm dead, admit it," he drooped his head in acceptance and sadness. "You're not dead, silly," she spoke, lifting Prism's head with her paw. Prism instantly paced back a few steps, trying to reason with a different answer. "Than how," he spoke, grasping for words. "You've been given what you deserve," the Kitsune spoke. "You are now officially one with nature, Representation of the Night." she finished. "What do you mean?" Prism tossed another question, as his mind spun with them. "You protect those of the night, all those that reside in the night," she finished, and then faded into thin air. Prism nodded, trying to make sense of it all, and decided to lie back down to fall back into a calm sleep. <--> Darn I got a bit carried away with the story, honestly didn't realize how long it was until the instructions told me the description was too long qwq- That's the finished entry! :) Art- Me Design creator and DTA host- @Catmagic2888 Music- G/S/C National Park Remix by Glitch X City
