++Chapter 13++ (there is fighting, imma put a gore warning here just in case i added some without knowing) ~hey look it's Misti again~ The wind was cold, and tangled and matted my fur. The rain fell down in puddles, drenching all of the cats who were fighting, at least the ones that were alive (spirit cats don't get wet). I braced myself, waiting for the final blow.... And a dark silver shape with paler silver patches barreled into Archer and knocked him off of my body. I gasped and choked for breath, wondering how it was possible for me to be still alive. I struggled to stand, and what i saw almost made me collapse. Blitz ran to my side and supported my weight as i watched in horror. "GALA!!" I had never known how much skill Gala had. she weaved and clawed and tore with accurate precision, and managed to get a good chunk of fur out of Archer. Archer was agile, too, but he was more on the strong side, while Gala was quicker and lighter and moved rapidly out of the way, as fast as a shooting star. I watched, terrified, thinking that perhaps there was a chance that Gala might win... Archer started to retreat... Shadow hissed... Then Gala relaxed too much, and Archer whisked around and slash her throat. I let out a mangled cry, twisted out of Blitz's grasp, and ran to my friend, one of the truest, closest friends i had ever had. Archer snarled, muttering something along the lines of "this isn't the end", and turned tail into the shadows. Shadow watched with disapproval, then began to speak something. But i was too worried to be suspicious. Staying by Gala's side, with Blitz beside me, it was all i could do to just sit and be with her. She was still breathing, thank Quicksilver, but i knew she wouldn't be with us for long. "m-Misti," Gala coughed. I looked up and stared into Gala's desprate, deep green eyes. "Misti." she started to cry for some reason, and i felt my eyes water. She looked behind me, and whispered, "Blitz, stay with Misti. Help her through this." she turned to me again. "I do have a confessi-" she coughed. "A confession," she repeated, breathing heavily and wincing at the fatal cut Archer had given her. "i wouldn't call it small, or relevant, but i wanted you to know, just in case." she coughed again and i placed a paw on her flank in what i hoped was a comforting way. "shh," i tried to soothe, tears spilling out of my eyes. but Gala struggled. "no," she whispered. "Misti, i have to tell you. It's why i followed you, and tried to protect you, and it's why you felt as if i was so familiar. I stared at Gala, who was looking up at me desprately, like a little sister would look up to a- no. that wasn't...possible... "Misti," Gala whispered. "I-I'm your older sister." I blanked, and my mind swirled with different words that i didn't know how to put back together. When i finally completed the puzzle, i stared at Gala in a whole new light. //she had treated me like a sister,// i realized. And that was the bond i had felt when i was near Gala. But... but then... but I had felt the same bond with... "Yes, Misti," Gala whispered hoarsely. "Archer is our sibling too." Archer. Archer. the cat who tried to kill me. Archer, my brother. I shook my head and stared at Gala in disbelief, but she nodded. Blitz rested his tail on my flank as i stared numbly at the ground. From a distance, I heard Shadow growl, and mutter something to the shadow above, but all i could do is stare at Gala in disbelief... Then Blitz shouted again, and pulled me away from Gala, and i protested and struggled, yelling at Gala, who sat below the fountain, still, unmoving... Blitz managed to drag me to a hill that towered over Aria, and i fell limp, still numb. Then i sensed Blitz stiffen, and managed the strength to look up. The giant ball of shadows the weaker shadowcats had morphed into...crashed into Aria, and destroyed everything in it in one fatal blow with the impact. I turned away, and mourned for all of the cats down in the square; though already dead cats couldn't die a second time, they could still feel pain. And Gala... There was no way she could have survived that. - - - A few dismal days later, the battle was over, and the shadow was gone. Blitz and I decided to go investigate the chaos in Aria, and I was devastated at the amount of injuries and loss... Tasha was helping another tortoiseshell she-cat who appeared to have a broken leg. A cream tom limped over to a comfortable spot on the grass, wincing as he collapsed heavily on a thick patch. Poor Mizumi had a torn ear and looked terrified for all of the cats around her, attempting to help but accidentally running into debris and injuring herself further. Goldenleaf pulled herself out from underneath a chunk of rock, licking her sores. Blitz and i ran over to the crowd that had gathered around a fallen dark silver body, and my eyes started to water again. I still couldn't believe that Gala was gone. (con't below)
(Con't from above) "she won't be gone forever," whispered a red tom soothingly as tears spilled out of my eyes. "she'll have an important place in Quicksilver." "where is her...spirit?" asked Blitz, his voice cracking. Goldenleaf pushed through the crowd, assisting Mizumi. "some spirits take longer to show themselves," she explained quietly. "I'm assuming Gala isn't ready yet. When she is, her star will fall into place." I didn't understand what she meant, but i nodded and stared at the body of my sister. Then Mizumi pushed through and held her head high. "We can --" she coughed. "We can all agree that Gala deserves the best place in Quicksilver," she continued. "and I think i know what's best for her. but we'll discuss that later. And Misti..." she paused, looking at me, maybe sympathetically? "Misti," she mewed quietly. "Misti was not the silver cat who would save the stars." I wasn't insulted in any way, though everything hurt at this point. "Gala was," I finished weakly. "That's why she was so against the whole Misti thing," said Goldenleaf quietly. "because she would rather risk her life than sacrifice Misti's." she didn't say any more than that. I thought i heard her whisper, "I'm so sorry, Gala." Blitz and I went to the fountain up front and rumaged around in the water until I found what we were looking for. The jar was small and a simple dark blue, and together we uncorked it. The spirit inside soared free, until materializing next to us as a large orange tabby tom with striking yellow eyes. Goldenleaf gasped. "Blazen!" the two folded into each other and stayed like that for a very long time. I looked back at Gala again and turned, gesturing to Blitz. "come on. it's time to go."
