A Remake of the classic Midway arcade game "GORF". Shoot your way through 4 space missions and destroy the Flag Ship! HOW TO PLAY: Arrow keys to move your spaceship. Space to fire a shot. (When you fire a shot while another shot is already on the screen, that existing shot disappears.) You have 5 lives. Contact with an enemy, projectile, laser, or fireball will kill you. If you lose all 5 lives, the game ends. You are awarded an extra life every time the Flagship at the end is destroyed. MISSIONS: ----------------- ASTRO BATTLE: Defeat the invaders, which work their way to the bottom of the screen and fire projectiles at you. If they reach the bottom, your game is over. You are accompanied with a shield which will protect you from the projectiles, but it will start to break. Shoot the UFO for a bonus amount of points. LASER ATTACK: Avoid and destroy the two alien formations. Each formation contains one small Gorf, which will fly unpredictably when the Laser Base is destroyed, three Attackers, which will dive at you randomly, and the Laser Base, which will move to random spots on screen and fire lasers. SPACE WARP: Twelve enemies will spiral throughout a warp tunnel, one at a time. While doing so, they will emit fireballs at the ship. You can either avoid the enemies, or try to shoot them down. FLAGSHIP: The final mission. While emitting fireballs at the player, the Flagship at the top of the screen will move side to side. You must shoot through the Flagship's shield and break off pieces of the Flagship. If you shoot through the core area of the Flagship, it is destroyed. You will be promoted to a higher space rank (First level is Space Cadet, then Space Captain, then Space Colonel, and so on) which will repeat the last four missions, with a higher difficulty level.
The sprites were made by me, the sound effects were ripped off of YouTube, and the GORF Voice Emulation was ripped from MameWorld (samples.mameworld.info). Known Bugs: -Divers in Laser Attack will sometimes get stuck in place or on the left side of the screen. -The Flag Ship will sometimes split into pieces before the mission starts. -Invaders in Astro Battle will sometimes be slightly incorrectly placed (but this is only seen if the computer is slow) -The moving noises of the Invaders will not stop until the game ends when you get to Space Captain.
