1. Spell out the code from the soybean growth lab and click submit. 2. Put on safety equipment: safety goggles, gloves, and lab coat. 3. Prepare your workstation by dragging a weigh boat, a reaction vial, and the distilled water onto the table. 4. Place seed A on a weigh boat and break it by tapping it with the pestle. The seed should break into two pieces to allow enough surface area to be exposed for extraction of the CP4 EPSPS protein. 5. Drag the weigh boat with broken seeds onto a reaction vial and click to place the seeds into the reaction vial. Place the weigh boat in the waste bin. 6. Fill a pipette with distilled water. Once filled, place the pipette over the reaction vial and click it to transfer the distilled water into the reaction vial. Place the pipette in the waste bin. 7. Click the reaction vial to close and shake it. Place one QuickStix test strip inside the reaction vial. Once the test is ready, click it to enlarge. 8. Interpret your results and document them in your engineering notebook. Was it genetically modified? How do you know? 9. Repeat the test for sample leaf A, sample leaf B, and sample seeds B.
