Welcome to Scratch Battle, the 2-player fighting game that is a great joy to play! Battle your friends as either Scratch Cat, the faithful mascot of Scratch, or Evil Scratch Cat, his dark counterpart, with a variety of moves like kicks, punches, crouches, and jumps! Fight in sunny grasslands and dark caves alike as you admire the beautiful 2D backgrounds drawn by yours truly, @turquoiseddd. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~CONTROLS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Evil Scratch Cat: Up arrow -- jump Down arrow -- crouch left and right arrows -- move right and left B -- punch N -- kick M -- block Good Scratch Cat: W -- jump S -- crouch A and D -- move right and left 1 -- punch 2 -- kick 3 -- block HOW THE GAME WORKS: Punches are quick attacks but don't do very much damage. Kicks take a while but do twice the damage punches do. If an attack is made while standing, it can be blocked. However, if an attack is made while crouching, it cannot be blocked and can only be dodged by jumping. Be wary, though: You can't block while crouching, and you are still susceptible to standing attacks! TACTICS: Crouching kicks take 0.2 seconds less than standing kicks do, so they should usually be used. If your opponent is blocking all of your attacks, try hitting them with a crouching attack. You can't jump while blocking! You also can't jump while attacking, and you can't start an attack while jumping. Also, try starting your attack while not in range of the opponent, then move in range at the last second so your opponent doesn't have time to block or dodge. The different arenas don't change gameplay at all, they're just for aesthetic purposes. If you made it this far, good job! Have yourself a nice high five and a secret. (^0^)_/ \_(^0^) Try to find the Easter egg hidden somewhere in the project! (It can only be found if you see inside, and it is a costume within a sprite)
Credit to Mortal Kombat for the idea, and credit to my dad and @bvinlove (my sister) for playtesting it and suggesting some features that are now in-game like different arenas, a way to tell when you get hit (the -1 and -2 signs above your head), and more! Oct. 2nd, 2020: Version 1.0 released. More versions to come soon! :)
