It's 2020. People have put every single thing into three categories: Masculine. Feminine. And, Gender Neutral. Now, this isn't a bad thing, right? Wrong. Everything is stereotyped. EVERYTHING. Look on TV. Look at the toy commercials. on the monster truck commercials, who is shown playing with them? Boys. On barbie commercials, who is shown laying with them? Girls. Tuxedos are for boys, dresses are for girls. High heels are for girls, and dress shoes are for boys. I never understood this, though. Would it be normal for a girl to play with a monster truck or a boy to play with barbies? Society doesn't think so. If a boy wears a dress to school, that doesn't make him a girl, it still makes him a boy, until he says to call him otherwise. I have the same situation for my mom. In her eyes, I was born to be a female who had long braids, good grades, long painted nails, long dresses, and to be attracted to men. However, some days I want to experiment with my gender expression. But she hasn't let me, ever. If I wanted shorter hair, natural nails, suits and suspenders, and to like women, she would always say the same thing, "do you want to be a boy, or something?" sure, it's not as common for a girl to go to their middle school dance with a tuxedo instead of a dress, but that doesn't mean it's abnormal. the only time i didn't wear a dress to a formal event, was during a school concert, before the pandemic of course, last year. I had to LIE to get my mom not to force me into a dress, because I wasn't comfortable wearing one, and on some days wearing it I felt terrible about myself. I was miserable, but she likes it. It's like this. If your mom, at birth gave you a sweater, you would some days start to hate the sweater, some days it's too tight, too itchy, but YOU like the sweater, so THEY have to wear it. No. If you give a child a dress, they can refuse to wear it, since it's now theirs. Now, let's go back to what I was saying before. Nothing is "for girls", nothing is "for boys", everything was gender neutral until SOCIETY decided to make it that way. Working in the dirt was for all genders, until society made it so that it was not normal for girls that are over the age of 7 to play in mud. Colors are even gender neutral, but society had to be stupid and put gender stereotypes on it anyway. Feminine Girls can only like pink, and masculine boys can like any other color but purple. I don't identify as female, but I love pastel pink. It could be because my room has been pink for almost a decade, but that doesn't make me a feminine female. Even on days were I don't feel female, I still love pink. I told my younger cousin's friend that my favorite colors were pink and green, and she said "That's a boy color." I don't understand. Almost everything is locked to being for only women, or only men, and if someone of the opposite gender, they get called a sissy or a t*nnie, which are both disgusting words to call someone. What is the conclusion here? How you express yourself does not express your actual gender. Do not call someone the opposite gender because they dress a certain way unless they tell you to do so. Do not label a certain item feminine or masculine. This took me half an hour, so if you could leave a heart, or maybe a favorite or follow on the way out, that would be appreciated. Have a nice week and I'll see you girls and gay's in the next project. (if anyone could add this to this studio, that would be great because I can't curate. Thanks if you do. ) edit 10/18: 50 views? holy-
