In a recent interview, Kensuke Tanabe announced another restriction on the Mario Universe that has been used to protect the brand. He said "Since 8-Bit Mario Party 1, it is no longer possible to use characters or objects other than Mario. This is to make the game more accessible,". Now the game has been fixed to fit those important restrictions.
