yeep this is probably going to lose. I had fun writing this though! ________ Meet Porcelain. The perfect doll for the perfect girl. Made for Star, a so-called perfect girl. But Star, whenever her parents weren't looking, threw the doll against the wall, and patched her up, badly. But one day, when Star and her family were out with another woman named Iris, Porcelain was set on a table...and all of her beautiful brown pelt, made of delicate stained glass, fell apart, revealing a white shell. The pieces sizzled, and Star's parents shrieked. The shell was also cracked, but flowers bloomed out. Three covered Porcelain's gouged-out right eye. Star touched a piece, and her finger burned. An acrid smell filled the air, and the girl screamed, her parents rushing her away from the empty restaurant. Iris looked at Porcelain, then at the door. Slowly she picked up the cat and whispered to it three words. It blinked its perfect eyes, and vanished with a puff. Five years later, an ageing Iris read an article on recent, modern myths. One paragraph particularly caught her eye: "Children in need wish for the day they dream of the cat with the flowers blooming out of the cracks in her porcelain pelt. She comes, paws shrouded in mist, and looks at you with a gaze of steel set in ice. Then your life changes for the better or the worse. They call this cat Porcelain, after her porcelain shell." Iris smiled, recalling the day she'd met the perfect creation, and said those fateful words. They were short yet powerful, enough to make the most miserable miser smile, the most hated man loved by all. "I forgive you."
