This is mostly because, once you finish up a conversation, or he leaves your view, or his voice goes in and out of your ear, he just... disappears. Camera footage is grainy, audio is static, memories are blurred. You swear by the light of day that you saw him, right there, and that you could describe him from his hazel eyes to his dark hair. Or were they dark eyes and hazel hair? Did he have hair at all? If he takes an interest, he might show up in the corner of your eye, watching, curiously but embarrassed.
