not even gonna bother being grammatically correct bc this is a rant. we as a community need to do A LOT better.
have you guys seen what scratch has become? it's no longer a fun coding site with cool games and funny animations. it's all about fame now. as a community, it is nobody but our fault. we need change here. when i started scratch in 2017, everyone (mostly) was friendly and just wanted to share and have fun. it was not toxic at all; just wholesome fun. nowadays i see studio invites that say "invite for follows!". do you guys see any problem with this or are you just blind? too much notification traffic can cause the site to crash and it's all your fault bc you wanted fOLLoWs. i understand that getting follows feels rewarding, but that aint the way you get some. even then, this site is not about the clout and popularity you have. and A LOT of the community don't realize this. it's not a competition. don't bully people, pressure them, or have them pity you to get followers! it's so wrong! dont ask for f4f is the user doesn't state they do it. f4f builds more friendships than follows. i follow all my followers because they are all worthy and don't beg for anything. also, another topic i should bring up: STOP MISGENDERING PEOPLE. i cannot stress how important this is. check for pronouns on the users profile before referring to them with a gender-specific term. just because a user posts cute pink art does not mean they are necessarily a girl! anyone of any gender is allowed to do that and do not judge them for that! like, for crying out loud, read the community guidelines. it revolves around being nice and respectful to ANYONE, regardless of their gender, orientation, religion, race, background, etc. If you disrespect any of these, you're breaking the scratch rules. and lastly, art theft. this happens way to often to be ok. STEALING ART IS NOT OKAY. it is the artist's own intellectual property and by not giving credit, you are once again violating rules. however, it is allowed to remix art on scratch, but credit is a must. thank you for coming to my spicy salty ted talk
