Aside from working as a teacher at Storm Hill elementary, there wasn't much else Jade de Luca filled her days with. Sure, there was always the trusty machinery that she could come back to and unwind with after a long day's work, but even that was failing her now, as she'd been working on the same piece for over a month. It was frustrating, not having anyone to talk to or get help from, so she decided to take a vacation. A long earned break from everything. Jade got her bags packed and called into the school, telling them she'd made last-minute plans. To where? That would be Italy, the country most well known for its delicious food. It was also Jade's mother country, and she missed it a lot. She booked herself a ticket and left Manchester for a couple of luxurious weeks. Upon arriving at Malpensa airport in the Province of Varese, she bought a tourist's camera. It came in handy several times in the duration of the trip, but when she came back home, she felt sad and alone again. She unpacked slowly, but when she came across the camera she's bought earlier, her mind began to whir. She thought of an idea even she knew was brilliant. Jade couldn't wait any longer, so she left her still half-packed suitcase open and rushed into her garage, the place where she kept all her machines. Quickly moving the remaining bits of the failed system she'd stopped working on when she left for Italy, she set to work. The next day, unwilling to go teach, she told the Storm Hill office staff that something had come up. It wasn't a lie, something had come up; an idea, an opportunity Jade just couldn't pass up. Finally, long after she began, the thought she'd been materializing was brought to life. It was something she could go to with all of her problems, something she hadn't had since her sister had died giving birth four years prior. And, with a click of a button, that something would become someone. But not yet. She was still adding the finishing touch- an emotion detector. The top of the camera head would always display an image, and that would be the feeling Jade's creation was having at the very moment. A clever idea on her part, she thought as she completed the system. She turned her newly made companion on, and among the whir of machinery, camera girl stirred. Her shutter opened for the first time, and the emotion detector read a confused expression. "Hello?" she tilted her head. "Ciao, Bianca," Jade smiled. She finally had someone.
