Click flag (not the centre of the project, top-right corner) again if it's glitching and showing dark blue text. Try to open the chest! (hints are below - if you're stuck on how to do something, check the comments to see if your question's already been solved) Type in commands to make things happen; stuff like "read book" and "north" and "take key". Words like "the" and "go" aren't necessary, and don't try "what do I do now?" or "climb ladder then enter blue room and if there's someone in there, talk to them, if there isn't then take the pile of coins in the room opposite me". It won't work (it "filters" the words and deletes unknown ones, so something unexpected may happen) NOTE: there is a bug where if you do something with an item that's two words long, but only type in one word (example: "door" instead of "small door") or leave a space after a command, it doesn't do anything. Up/down arrow keys are used to scroll up/down - you'll probably need to do so at some point. Commands are understood in four forms: VERB VERB NOUN VERB PREPOSITION NOUN VERB NOUN PREPOSITION NOUN The "switch" commands switches from the text engine (default) to the list - the list is a bit faster, but I prefer the text engine. If you're still unsure, type in "help", or even search up guides on playing IF and try playing an easy one like Bronze. Hints: (contain spoilers) -Can't find the chest? Maybe you can go up the fireplace... -But there's nothing on the roof, and the door's locked! You'll have to open it, somehow. -There's someone who can help. How to find him? Notice the description in one of the rooms is a bit similar to a book's description. -It's just something else you can't find! It could be hidden in the dark; a light source might help. -Still stuck? Ask me in the comments, and I'll try to help.
Yay, curated by @Heavenbrand on 19/4/15! There are no books in the library to start with unless you get the book and put it there. It says there are books to describe the library, but you can't pick them up or examine them. "Turn on torch" turns the torch on. Currently you can move around rooms, take and drop items, examine them, put items on other items, turn the torch on/off, talk to people (use the command "talk to <person> about <thing>" instead of ask/tell), and unlock doors. An actual game with an actual story ( >:D ) might be completed sometime/by June... might... All programming is by me! Art is nonexistent... oh, the thumbnail's mine. I found a few tutorials on making IF games pretty useful, and the idea of making an interactive story isn't mine. I just wanted to try making one. Look inside! I've got a few notes on how it works, and a map! Updates: 28/1/15 -Added a proper ending where it tells you you've finished, added a chest you have to open. -Improved text engine; easier to read. 31/1/15 -Didn't realise it didn't show the ending. It's now fixed - sorry about that. 6/2/15 -I've now added a door that you need to unlock if you want to progress. 27/3/15 -Replaced the text engine with a pen one which is somewhat faster and looks better. Word wrapping has been improved due to it, too! 29/3/15 -A few improvements to the text engine; works a bit better and added characters - and / . 11/4/15 -Improved the text engine again. Word wrapping actually works, and it's a bit faster.
