Shae scowled. Holly could feel her anger radiating onto her, the heat of years' arguments. "She's right here," Lily replied, pointing at Holly. Holly glared at the bluenette, but she didn't notice the girl's anger. Shae's eyes shot daggers that pierced through her soul. Holly waved nervously, then went back to cursing Shae in her old memories. "Okay, looks like everyone's accounted for. Everybody go to your next period," Mrs. Schwartz said. *** Lunch was something else, alright. There were 10 tables with 4 chairs assigned to our lunch group. Holly was sat at a table adjacent to Shae's friend group, which Holly was not happy about. Lily decided to sit next to Holly, but no one else came to their table. "Hi!" Lily smiled at Holly. "Hello," Holly said. "Why are you sitting next to me? I lied to you." "That's fine, I understand. Especially if you're being hounded by her," Lily scowled. She pointed at Shayla Dimson herself. "You hate her too?" Holly inquired. "Of course! For one week, I wasn't sitting next to my best friend. Then she picked him up (Lily pointed to a chocolate-skinned boy with dreads) and deserted me. She's the worst." Both of them knew they were lying to themselves and each other about their 'victim' positions in their relationships with Shae. "Ack! Yeah, that's annoying. You're the first person besides my maid who's talked to me in a while, by the way," Holly explained. "What about your parents?" Silence was all that was heard from Holly as she twirled the locks cut by safety scissors. "Speaking of which," Lily broke the silence, "Why did you cut your hair?" Holly was quiet again. Lily acknowledged this and allowed Holly to eat, knowing they had formed connection over their enemy. When lunch was over, Holly and Lily lined up to go to their next period, and were unfortunately placed with Hawthorne and Shae. Shae tapped Holly's shoulder, catching her attention. "Listen here, brat. This is my school, and we don't need bullies like you and your new friend here. Me and my boyfriend (Holly gagged) will do anything to keep you away from us and the students. I will make your life miserable." Holly shrank down. She was the one being bullied now, contrary to her childhood. "Lily is one of the nicest people I've met," Holly breathed, trying to face her fear of this girl. "No, she betrayed her friend in the worst way possible. It's time for next period, but remember this confronation. Don't. Come. Near. Me." Holly frowned, then started to sob.
(My grammar is horrible in this section.) (I'm trying to work on not doing info-dumps, so tell me what you think about me dropping a bit of their backstories into every other paragraph.) (I know there's nothing about heroes/anything supernatural right now. Don't worry, that will come, but for now I need to solidify the characters as civilians.) Bonus Oneshot: Holly read the text from Lily. "Here look at this, it's an embarrasing video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLzxrzFCyOs." 'Hmmm,' Holly thought. What is that link? You just got rick rolled (BTW scratch team this is just a link to Rick Astley's never gonna give you up, nothing nefarious or innapropriate.)
