You may think that the pillar is spinning. If you have guessed this, then you are wrong. It may look like it's rotating but what you are currently seeing is an illusion. There are several sine shaped lines that make this work. The group of lines is all arranged in a pattern as it's moving upwards while the other group is flipped and it's moving downwards. Once these groups are overlapping each other. It will then form this rotating pillar.
