-Remix- This is a ref sheet for a saberbat OC! This template is for the most common breed of Saberbat. Saberbat's are half saber tooth tiger, and half dragon. Please have fun making your saberbat! Saberbats come in all colors, and forms. The most common, however, are elemental themed saber-bats. Lore: Once, two clans, one of dragons, and one of tigers traveled to the dragonsong mountains, hoping to settle down. The races found each other when they arrived, and each refused to back down. War broke out between the kingdoms, and ensued for 13 moons. Eventually, on the 1st day of the thirteenth moon, the leaders of the tribes struck eachother down, killing one another. The new leaders, wracked with grief, declared a truce. They upheld this truce by holding a series of contests every first day of the new year. This is now a holiday celebrated by the modern Saberbats, as a day of fireworks, special food, and recreating competitions with your family. It celebrates new life and hope. One day, the saberian princess, Tanya (tah-n-yuh) was competing in the racing competition. The dragon prince, Prince Farren (fair-en) noticed her. He was entranced by her powerful stride, and strong fighting spirit. Later, he met with her. They fell in love, and married, uniting the kingdoms. As dragons and tigers now begin to breed, a new race was created, the Saberbats. 2000 years later, the Dragonsong tribe was struck by a famine. One young Saberbat, Anastasia, began a rebellion. She gained many followers, and soon, the tribe was divided into two. The Dragonsong Dynasty vs. The Tigress's Unit. After a long battle, Anastasia captured or killed almost all of soldiers on the Dynasty's side. She led them as slaves, having them crawl up through the ranks, in hopes of one day being seen as equal. She led her army through the mountains, on a five-moon-long trek across the mountain range, until she found new territory with terrain suited for all beings. This is honored by the saberbats as the Ice Age's End, for the journey was made in the dead of winter, and sought warmer climates from the original snowy mountains. During this time, Saberbats start the day by standing outside and partake in a 5 minute silent vigil and the Queen's battalion parades through the kingdom, stopping at towns in which the people will give them gifts and food. The Tigress's unit was renamed the Tigris Clan two generations later, by Queen Unity. She also started the tradition of naming the princesses after musical terms (her daughter, Princess Sonata, and her granddaughter Princess Cadenza implemented this into the honor system, as a memory of how the Saberbats started being known through music played in bars and town squares of nearby communities) The Tigris Clan was a military driven clan, and developed factions in which many elemental creatures would soon inhabit. Unlike the Dragonsong Dynasty, the Tigris is ruled by female authority, as Anastasia decreed. Saberbat's are a unique and beautiful species, with a rich history, and extensive culture. Fun fact: Saber bats often wear spiked collars. This serves two purposes; married couples wear wedding necklaces with a shard of their mates soul gem wreathed in intricately weaved metal, often precious metals such as gold and silver. The collars can protect this from thiefs. They also have a soul gem, located on their neck, which helps control their energy flow, and feeds their life force. The collars protect this from getting broken or targeted in fights.
