It's finally finished! After many weeks and a lot of research, Epic Mario Journey is done and ready for the public! Hey everyone! This is my first semi-official (it's a remix) project! Hope you like it! Fight your way across the level, and find the 33 Power Moons (may or may not have turned all the Coins into Moons yet-- I haven't worked on this very much). They have no effect on damage or anything like that, but to complete the level, you have to find them all! Actually, Coins heal your HP, similar to Mushrooms, so if you're in a pinch, run for the Coins! [Arrows or WASD] - Move [Space or H] - Attack [M] - Music On / Off. [P] - Pause On / Off [T] - Throw (Fireballs/Spiny Egg once picked up) Hold [down arrow] to crouch, and tap [down arrow] to drop through platforms. Crouching for a second provides you with power for a long jump or uppercut. Pass by a fireball to pick it up, a Spiny Egg to become Spiny Mario, or a hammer to become Demolition Mario! Pressing T will power you back down to regular Mario, and will throw the Spiny Egg if you are Spiny Mario. You will also temporarily power down if you are hit. However, Mario will regain his power-up in a moment's notice. Items/Terrain: Ground - Mario can stand on and wall-jump off of this. It can come in many types. Bridge - Mario can stand on bridges. He can also drop down through them, as there are sometimes Coins down there-- but there also might be dangerous Spiny Traps! Tree - An enormous (and kinda silly-looking) tree that appears a couple times in the level. Its branches behave like bridges, but Mario can't stand on the trunk. Wall - Walls are darker versions of ground blocks. Mario can't stand or wall-jump off of them-- they're just for decoration. Mushroom - Yellow mushrooms sometimes appear after taking out an enemy, if your health is low. The red mushrooms are like wall blocks. Touch a yellow Mushroom to restore your health. If your health bar turns completely gray, you die (oof) and reappear earlier in the level. Mushrooms dropped from Bowsers heal you completely! Coin - There are 33 of them. They restore health. Goomba - An evil mushroom that appears frequently. They don't do much damage and are easily defeated. Koopa Troopa - This turtle is like the Goomba, but much, much tougher. Hammer Bro - It slowly lumbers toward you. It then charges up and unleashes a powerful hammer slam. Avoid the attack, and while it's not moving, punch it! If you try to attack it while it's not attacking, Hammer Bro will counter you. It's also immune to Spiny Eggs and fireballs, but Demolition Mario can attack Hammer Bro without fear! They drop Super Hammers. Piranha Plant - These weak enemies shoot fireballs. One hit is all it takes to take it out. They drop fireballs. Lakitu - it flies low to the ground, attacking with its pet turtle, Spiny-- and it can strike through blocks! The two are slow to turn, however, so attack from behind. Spiny Eggs, fireballs, and hammers can strike from the front. Lakitu drops a Spiny Egg once defeated. Spiny Trap - A patch of Spiny Shells that takes away a huge chunk of the HP of Mario or enemies. Mario bounces slightly when he falls into a Spiny Trap, so use that to escape the trap. Clouds - When Mario jumps on this platform, he starts to sink, and eventually drops right through the cloud. He can't wall-jump off clouds. A FEW USEFUL TECHNIQUES: Making Use of Enemy Dimwittedness: after defeating the first Bowser, you'll come across a temple that you can jump into. If you don't wall-slide down the wall, you'll take fall damage when you land, but so will enemies! A couple Koopas will appear here (and Goombas if you go right to collect the Moon), so wall-slide down and watch as your opponents happily yeet themselves down the hole and crash to the ground. It'll one-hit KO Goombas, but Koopas can survive the fall. Hiding: This can come in handy in earlier parts of the level, as many enemies will pursue you. Get to a bridge and drop down. Enemies can't drop through bridges, so it'll keep you safe. Beating Bowser: Bowser is very powerful, but it's easy to beat him if you know how. Just get slightly behind him, and he won't turn around to attack you for some reason. Just a little into his shell should do it. Then keep jump-punching him!
Big thanks to Nintendo for the sprites, and Griffpatch for the code!
