Help the cell go through the cell cycle and divide! Use your mouse to play. *If you get more than 2 mitochondria, please ignore the extras.
Disclaimer: The colors, sizes, and shapes of the cell and organelles are not necessarily exact. These are meant only to represent ideas and concepts. The red oval is a mitochondrion, which represents an organelle of the cell. Yes, normally there would be other organelles as well. Walkthrough below (Warning: Spoilers!) Scroll down to see it if needed. Warning! Walkthrough spoiler below! Interphase: G1 Click the cell and drag it outwards until it grows big enough. Interphase: S Click and hold your mouse over the nucleus while moving over the nucleus. It will slowly get darker. Continue until it is dark enough, and it will go into the next phase. Interphase: G2 Click and drag the cell to make it grow a bit bigger. Also duplicate organelles. Mitosis: Prophase Click and hold your mouse over the nucleus, and keep moving it over the nucleus. Eventually, the chromosomes will become visible. Then, click on the nucleus (not the chromosomes) repeatedly to dissolve it. Mitosis: Metaphase Line the chromosomes up in the middle of the nucleus. Make sure they are completely in the nucleus, don't overlap, and are in the middle. Mitosis: Anaphase Separate the sister chromatids by dragging them to the ends of the nucleus. Mitosis: Telophase Click the spots where the two new nuclei would form repeatedly, until both nuclei are completely formed. Cytokinesis Move your mouse up and down along the middle of the screen (while clicking and holding), to divide the cytoplasm. Then, move the organelles so that they do not overlap and are in the correct cells (the duplicated mitochondria should be in the right cell).
