The neighboring family heard quite the commotion from the Heron household and came just in time. The Dusin wife helped Heather through the whole thing and was the one to tell her that her newborn son would never learn to speak. Heather Wilson, a widow in the easter quarters of District Eleven, had given birth to twins. Juniper Eliza Heron, and Carter Ben Heron, taking on her husband's name. Carter grew up in a sheltered home, with his sister to take care of him and help him learn when teachers gave up. The tall scrawny fawn and brown tom-cat became increasingly sweet and shy around others. Carter was known for his selfless nature and muteness. Born without a tongue, and sentenced to work in the orchards and fields at the early age of six, with his sister and school friends. Carter grew up with the Glace family, temperamental Fennec, little Hector and deaf Lolo, and the fiery Martha. June and Martha became fast friends, but Carter became more and more attracted to his sister’s friend. Suddenly his childhood disappeared, along with his sister on a flood down a waterfall. Desperately Carter had tried to warn his sister of the rainfall but he could not speak and the falls came too quickly. Traumatized by watching his sister tumble over the edge into a void Carter became less and less talkative and outgoing as he used to. Ever the optimistic thought he tried to push past it and win over his friendship with Martha. They continued on having adventures together and working all day long. The two became so close much thought they were related. Overjoyed Carter knew his chances with Martha were getting better and better, but being the shy, inquisitive, and innocent tom he was he never drew up the courage to explain his feelings. As the school continued and the reaping age began for both Martha and Carter, fear crept into every corner of his mind. The intelligent tom did everything in his power to feed his family, hunt with Martha, scavenging for food, and learn all he could to protect the Glace and the Heron’s vowing never to have a June incident again. Then Fennec was drawn from the reaping, at sixteen and from the slum eastern quarters of District Eleven. Looking at the savage Volt, clever Thistle, and deadly Riptide Martha was convinced Fennec would never be coming home. Carter would not give up hope, with every dead cat, every ally turning, Fennec grew closer to coming home. Hope swelled within the District Eleven slum. Until Fennec was met with Glade, one of her few allies. The gruesome outcome was hard to watch and even harder for the Glace family. Carter helped them through it and when Fennec came home it was the happiest day of their lives. .。❅*⋆⍋*∞*。*∞*⍋⋆*❅。. Art and character belongs to / and Martha belongs to /
