Chapter One I scan my surroundings. A ramshackle building that used to be a skyscraper crumbles in front of me, the mass of rubble decreased to a sorry pile. The air is cold and stale, but didn’t make my teeth chatter. “Where am I?” Nothing responds. “Where am I!” Nothing. Panic sets in, I don’t know where I am, how I got here. I start hyperventilating, breaths shallowing. The vast expanse swallows my tiny body. Where am I? I start panting, fear sinking in. Where am I! Take deep breaths. Deep breaths. I shut my eyes, trying to relapse everything I know, as memories and information rushes back into my mind, a tidal wave of thoughts. Five landscapes. Fantasy. Sci-fi. Horror. History. Dystopian. Where am I? And this time I have the answer stored in my brain. Landscape dystopian, year 2359. Then I remember something. Lynn. There’s someone named Lynn... Lynn. Where was Lynn, though? “Lynn!” I cry, desperate to know where this person is. I keep crying out, desperately hoping for a voice to answer me. “Lynn!” Before I can scream another time, I feel a bright burst of pain attacking my arm. I cry a shriek of fright laced with a burning agony. Chapter Two I feel dizzy... Before I could look behind me, I felt another slash this time on my right elbow. Shoot. This wasn’t going to end well. I started running. Blood was running down my right arm as I ran. I can’t die here. The riskiest thing about a mind landscape was if you die here you can never return to your present state. Without turning back, I started running. “Ack!” It wasn’t long since I started running but without knowing the reason, I fell hard onto the ground. Trying to stand up I felt something cold against my neck. Broken piece of glass. My heart was pounding quickly. One stab or even a cut through my artery would kill me for sure. “What do you want from me?” I cried. I had no confidence in surviving this, but I knew one thing. I wouldn’t know what would happen if I never tried. I had no response after. Then, that was when I concentrated on the person. Their hand was shaking. That meant only one thing, they are feared of hurting me. This is my SWC writing competition entry ^^ Please give me a lot of suggestions to help my writing. This is my first time sharing my writing. Word count = 388 I know it sucks so please don't be too rude. The chapters a bit short but I don't think that would be too much of a problem. Also really big thanks to my friend irl who helped me edit with me :D
