This is my OC Taiga from Quiet Nightmares! She is a Ice-Wing Mud-Wing hybrid and tends to get into trouble often. This is a short story from Taiga's earlier years: Taiga flapped her enormous wings, trying to take off. "C'mon, Taiga! You can do it!" Her sister, Crystal, cheered. "Yeah, you can do it!" Her father, Soil, added. Taiga was born with big wings, so flying had always been hard for her. She took a deep breath and jumped of the narrow ledge. Frost, her mother, was watching from below, making sure Taiga didn't fall. She yelped loudly as she felt herself fall. She closed her eyes in terror. Suddenly, she stopped falling. She slowly opened her eyes. She was flying! Taiga was so excited; she'd finally done it! She did a small flip in the air and flew to her siblings. "I did it!" She exclaimed as she gave them all a big hug. "I'm very proud of you," Her mother said as she joined them all. Taiga's eyes widened. That meant a lot coming from her mother, who was not easily impressed. Her mother seemed to notice and tensed up. "Wipe that smile off your face!" She snapped, but they could all see the smile tugging at the edge of her snout. Another short story: Little Taiga ran back and forth across the pottery shop, her talons splattered with clay. Her mother Frost chased her around. "Taiga! Get back here so I can wipe your talons!" She yelped. Taiga just laughed and kept running. Taiga tripped over a small box. She yelped and fell face first, her eyes widening. "Taiga, I told you to be careful!" Her mother said as she rushed to her side. "Come now, let's make some vases." She picked the small dragonet up and brought her to a table. Her siblings were gathered around the table, already making some pottery. Taiga marveled at the beautiful pots and vases on the shelves. "Whoa! These are awesome! Can I make one?" She pleaded. "Of course!" Her father jumped in, showing her a small stool. He lifted her up to it. "Okay, Taiga, first you put your little talons around the clay and move them around to make the shape! It's that simple!" Her father explained, placing the small dragon's scaly fingers on the wet clay. She squeaked at the contact, making her sister Crystal giggle. Her hands moved slowly, afraid she'd break something. "This is awesome!" She said happily. Another short story: Taiga, Fossil, and Crystal were racing across beautiful fields filled with wild flowers, the breeze blowing on their scales. The sky was bright blue, not a single cloud in sight. Fossil stopped abruptly, leaning down to sniff a small strawberry. The young dragons had never seen fruit before. Soon enough, the other siblings had stopped. Taiga walked slowly towards Fossil. "What happened? You afraid of a little race?" She teased. Fossil waved her comment away. "Look! It's a raw-berry!" Fossil exclaimed, amazed by the small fruit. Taiga sighed and rolled her eyes. "It's called a STRAW-berry, not a RAW-berry," She laughed. Fossil crossed his arms and huffed dramatically. Crystal finally arrived, panting. "Is that a Raw-berry?" She asked between pants. "It's a strawberry!" Fossil and Taiga exclaimed at the simultaneously. "Okay, okay," Crystal ignored them. "W-What's in there?" She asked, pointing to a cave. The other two hadn't noticed the big, dark cave. "That looks scary..." Fossil whimpered. "Scaredy cat!" Taiga teased. "I'm going in there, and if you're too scared to go in then so be it! I'll just have to tell mom that you were too scared..." Taiga threatened Fossil. "Okay, okay, I'm going." Fossil said, annoyed. They took a deep breath and stepped into the cave. "H-hello?" Fossil said, making the cave rumble. "It seems very hollow. Probably abandoned." Taiga reassured the others. Taiga had always been the bravest, and she was always up for a good challenge. Suddenly, they heard a roar, and an enormous bear walked up to them. The dragonets walked backwards slowly. This bear was ENORMOUS. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all..." Fossil said. "Maybe we could turn back?" Taiga tensed up and jumped to the side, breathing frost breath on the side of the grizzly. Suddenly, at the back of a cave, she saw cubs. Her eyes widened. "She's protecting her adorable cubs!" She 'awwed'. "Yeah, she's also attempting to kill us in the process," Crystal commented. "We just have to show her that we're not a threat, that way she'll leave us alone." Taiga explained. "Good luck doing that when you've already breathed frost-breath all over her." Fossil joked. "Fossil!" Taiga said. After a few minutes, Taiga had finally explained her plan. They all walked forward slowly. "We mean you no harm," Taiga said, almost whispering. Maybe it was just her imagination, but it seemed as if the bear relaxed a bit. She walked forward and gently touched the bear's snout. At first the bear growled softly, but eventually gave in to her reassuring voice. Hope you liked the short stories!
