Then, I mark out the different places where the shading stops/begins, with a little help from the program. Then, I use various shades and shapes layered on with different opacities. It is different than other blockshades where the artists do not change the opacity and layer the shapes. + What program do you use? = I use a computer program (a pet project of a friend's) to choose colors and things like that. It's kinda hard to use SVE for changing the opacity and using different shapes. With the program it does save a lot of time, but I still have to choose shapes and position them. (I have lots of respect for the people who do it the traditional way.) + Can you make me a blockshade? = No, I currently don't do blockshade requests. + Any tips on making a blockshade? = Be very familiar with a picture's shading, shapes, and edges. Having a good handle on it will help you so much! + How long does each blockshade take you? = Depending on the detail, it can take me from 1-7+ hours. + What's your favorite part of making a blockshade? Definitely blocking out the stopping/ending of the shades. That's when it really starts to take form! Drop any questions not mentioned in the FAQ below!
