Backstory: WARNING: THIS IS A DARK BACKSTORY, AND CONTAINS DEATH, IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO THIS KIND OF STUFF, PLEASE DO NOT READ: Calder had a good kittenhood, he had two loving fathers and a caring older sister. They had a nice den and lived in an area where prey was almost never scarce. One day, despite that his parents had forbidden it, Calder went towards the river. He looked in the shallow area, where the water was calm, but was shocked at what he saw. Or rather, what he didn't see. His reflection wasn't in the water! Calder stumbled back, and when he looked again, it still wasn't there. But, this time, he realized that he couldn't see anything in the water, it was just an empty pool. He couldn't help but peer inside once more. Suddenly, a twig cracked from behind him, and he fell in. Everything was dark, and still. Calder tried to move, but their body felt heavy, and they couldn't move. Their eyes felt open, but they couldn't see anything. They tried to crawl to the surface, through the deep black water. He thought he could make out a glimmer of light, but as he sunk back down, everything faded into darkness again. The next day, he woke up, determined to make it out. He struggled, swimming through the darkness. He could see the light clearly, now, and he pushed towards it, but in the corners of his vision, the darkness was growing. He slowly faded back into it. He was too tired to try again the next day. After lots of resting, and many failed attempts, he managed to swim towards the light. His eyes fluttered open, and he was surrounded by his family. They explained that they had followed his scent, and had found them unconscious in a small pool of water, in the forest. Calder protested that he'd been by the river, but he was met with questioning stares. They claimed that there were no rivers nearby, and that they'd never told him to stay away from any river. Disoriented and disturbed, Calder asked to rest a bit. He drifted off to sleep, but in his dreams, all he dreamt of was that ominous dark pool of water, and a raging river flowing behind him. He opened his eyes, but was surrounded by darkness. He looked around, but everything was black. He felt too heavy to move, and struggled. Slowly, the darkness faded into light, and he could see again. But, he wasn't in his den. He was sitting by the dark pool of water. He heard pawsteps approaching, and his head instinctively turned to face it. It was his sister, walking towards the pool of water. She sat by it, and stared at it. Suddenly, he lunged forward. He tried to stop himself, but it was too late; he had pushed her into the water. Suddenly, everything faded to black, and when he opened his eyes, he barely remembered the dream. When he got up, he didn't see his sister, and their fathers were talking somberly. Calder didn't want to eavesdrop, but he was curious. He hid, making sure that they didn't see him. "How...?" one cried. "We didn't see any evidence of a fox, or anything else." "I know," his other dad responded. "How will we tell Calder that we found his sister, dead, by the very pool that he nearly drowned in?" Calder gasped, what had happened. Had she fallen into the pool, but had been unable to climb out? He stared at his paws. They were covered in water! Water had never bothered him, but it creeped him out, and he shook it off. Suddenly, he thought of his dream. He realized that it must have been him! He had k!lled his own sister! No, somebody else did. He thought. I may have been the one to end her life, but it wasn't my choice. He decided defiantly. But... regardless of who had forced him too, he knew that he couldn't stay here. He was afraid that they might hurt somebody else, so that night he snuck out, and decided to never return. He decided to go into the forest, where he was met with the dark pool. He looked at it, and without thinking, he dove in. The darkness consumed him, but he tried to not feel afraid. "I won't hurt anyone else!" he cried. "I won't let you do this!" Their voice echoed through the darkness, and he began to feel heavy and slow, like one might on a hot day while lying in the sun. {See the rest in the notes and credits.

He thought of his sister, all of the fun that they'd had, the good times. "You can't control me!" He roared. Everything became a blinding white, and he awoke. He looked around. The first thing he noticed, was that he was no longer in the forest. He was in a nice grassy field. He could see trees in the distance, and could feel a slight breeze ripple through his fur. He felt different, lighter, almost as he looked around. His eyes caught on something. A pool of water. It was different from the one that had been tormenting him, it was nice and normal. He looked in, and was shocked. He sam his reflection, but it hardly looked like him. It looked like he was made of water! But that was impossible, it had to be. Still, it explained the rippling sensation that had gone through his fur from the breeze, and the strange grace that he moved with. The most shocking part of his new appearance, however, was his eyes. They were glowing brightly, shining like blue fire. Since then, whenever he sleeps, he still dreams of the darkness, and has to be careful to stop himself from hurting anyone else. He tries to avoid people, but has come into contact with several cats. ~ The End ~ (I would like to continue this story, but I fear this is becoming an unreasonably long backstory for a DTA xD If I get to keep him, perhaps I'll write more of it! :D )
