(i skipped to the chorus cause that's the best part) It gives me this dreamy ethereal vibe so i tried to convey that in my drawing. i'm SUPER proud of how it turned out even though it probably took around 10 hours or so.... notable lyrics: "You approach me gently through a square screen The one who planted in my heart a silver-colored fantasy My one and only, a little fairy" "I don’t feel lonely When I see you Even if I’m with my sad heart It just disappears far away Dear, You are my fairy of shampoo From this moment on, I will love you" analysis: originally based off of a poem by jung-il, fairy of shampoo is about a young man who has fallen in love and idolizes this women he sees in a shampoo commercial. the poem takes on consumer culture and capitalism while the song focuses more on the love the man had. i interpret the song as someone confessing their undying love towards an entity that they had created in their own imagination. symbolism (based on my take of the song): I used soft pastels as this song feels like a heavenly and ethereal dream. The window in the corner is a reference to the term "rose colored lenses" which is often used to describe when someone sees a romanticized or idealized version of a scenario in their head. There is also a fairy in the mirror to show how she isn't completely present, and also to reference the lyrics "you approach me gently through a square screen."The man is smoking shampoo/bubbles, which is a metaphor towards his self indulgent fantasy of this fairy who loves him. Though he seems happy, smoking/drugs are often associated with harm, showing how though his obsessions brings him temporary happiness, and is also incredibly toxic. I had this take place in a bathroom to keep with the shampoo theme. story: (i tried to give it a kpop theme because that's the genre of the song i choose) Yu hated concerts. Sure, he was well aware that he was the least liked member of the group- but something about seeing that reality up close and personal left him with a wrenching feeling in his stomach. Popularity polls told him he was unimportant. "Fans" told him he was unimportant. And the silence that met him when he walked on stage during a concert told him he was unimportant. Even after 10 years of training, Yu's passion for singing kept with him. He was once hopeful of debuting in a group, making it big, and having millions of fans. But, the public reaction towards him was indifferent- as he was always overshadowed by other members in his group. After years of being ignored, Yu's passion for music slowly began to slip away. He worried for his future. He had no money, no girlfriend, and when his group would eventual disband, he wouldn't have any opportunities as the least popular member of the group. But, he did have her. His fairy. Whenever he succumbed to the temptation of pills, powders, and cigarettes, he always saw her in his mirror. She was the only thing he had. The world may have ignored him, but his fairy never did. She was his fairy of shampoo and she would stay forever.
