IT IS COMPLETELY RECOMMENDED THAT THIS BOX IS READ BEFORE USE. - This is a fully accurate recreation of Athelney Level Crossing (AHBC-X, Automatic Half Barrier Crossing, works in wrong direction), in Somerset, near Taunton. - This project is part of the Ultimate Realism Collection, the projects in which not only look realistic but work very realistically and have a timetable that activates at a similar time to the real thing, for the right type of train, in the right direction. - Like all of the others, however, this project also has the 'Testing Blocks' Sprite, which is used for making trains run when you want. Click 'see inside' and the first sprite in the list is Testing Blocks. There are clear instructions for use in comments. - The full timetable is listed at the end of Notes and Credits, if you want to wait for a real train (There might be a significant wait, though). - Link to Realtime Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/ By chance, this crossing has its own timetable: 'Athelney Crossing'. - Link to ABC Railway Guide for this crossing: http://abcrailwayguide.uk/athelney-public-level-crossing-1-stoke-st-gregory-somerset#.X9JMr_pxfIU Disclaimer: The timetable here won't always be accurate as it often changes. In this project I have not included Short Term Plan (STP indicator) trains that aren't in the Working Timetable (WTT), such as rare light or freight movements. I have also not included Runs as Required (Q indicator) trains as they rarely run. The passenger trains, on the other hand, are almost never inaccurate. I also made this project when something was happening in the Westcountry (maybe works or something) and so the normal Paddington-Penzance trains aren't running beyond Truro. I might update the timetable in the future. - Now click the flag and begin (Begin what? That's your choice!).
I found the image in a RAIB report about an incident in 2013. The barriers were held down for longer than normal due to the controls becoming 'out-of-sync', and a local car driver had been waiting at the barriers for long enough to think that the crossing had 'failed', and he decided to drive around the barriers. The 100mph HST wrecked the car and killed the driver, but nobody on-board was hurt. Link to the report: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/547c8fb8e5274a428d000141/R042014_140224_Athelney.pdf#:~:text=Rail%20equipment%2Fsystems%20involved%2016%20%20Athelney%20level%20crossing,277%20metres%20on%20the%20approach%20to%20the%20crossing. The passenger trains (mostly between Paddington and Plymouth) at this time were operated by First Great Western using Class 43 HSTs. Today, Great Western Railway uses Class 802 IETs. There are also occasional freight services, which will be added in the future.
