Rosemary zoomed through the forest. gliding between tree to tree, coiling her tail around branches and flipping over the tree, breaking out into the bright sunset sky that matched her wings. She soared over the tree tufts. Rosemary was heading to the queen's pavilion. Rosemary had school all day and her mom was a queen, so they barely had any time together, but after school Rosemary and Queen Glory would fly to the nightwing village together. If she was late, Glory would go without her, but she didn’t think she was gonna be late. Glory always had a very strict schedule, and sometimes they were both very sad that they never saw each other. But sometimes Rosemary could hear her mothers voice in her head, whispering “I love you” It was proof a daughter and mother’s connection was unbreakable. Rosemary saw the mighty sequoia tree up ahead, the Queens’ pavilion was on one of its branches, that’s how she knew where she was. Rosemary dove abruptly, keeping her wings close to her as she fell perfectly through the trees, the ground rushing up to her. Right before she hit it, she spread her wings zig zagging up again but still staying close to the ground. Rosemary flew up the trunk of the Sequoia tree, cutting the line and landing on the platform. “HEY!” Rosemary heard a voice call from the line. “NO CUTTING!” “MY NAME IS ROSEMARY!” Rosemary called back, instantly the chit chattering fell silent. “Good. Now where’s my mom?” “She already left for nightwing village.” Rosemary glanced at Grandeur who was sitting on her mother’s Hammock throne. Grandeur was queen when Glory was gone, since she was the Queen before Glory. “Thanks, Grandeur,” said Rosemary. “I can take you to her if you want?” Offered Hope, a dark purple nightwing, arranging the flower garlands on the pavilion with her son, PeaceMaker. “Yes please, that would be wonderful,” Rosemary said with a sigh of relief.c “NO! Hope stay’s with me,” Ordered PeaceMaker. “You can come with us?” Hope asked PeaceMaker. “Ok!” PeaceMaker replied, brightening up. Hope dove off the ledge, Rosemary and PeaceMaker followed, soaring down to the brick path that led to the night kingdom. Or at least– it was known as the night kingdom, but a dragon named MightyClaw’s with his magic, had made cliffs pop up around the night kingdom, and he had made almost all the houses. Rosemary flew above some nightwings and rainwings who were crossing the path(Which wasn’t very long), and she landed at the entrance to the night kingdom, an archway of stone. Ivy slithered up the walls of the gorge, and trees lined the top of the place. Rosemary smiled at Hope, “Thank you.” “I know how hard it is being the daughter or son of someone very special, someone I loved nearly went mad, but i still loved him,” Hope said, hugging her son very close to her. “I’m sorry for your loss…” whispered Rosemary. “Thank you,” Hope mumbled back. PeaceMaker grabbed his mother’s ear, and whispered something. Hope hesitated for a long moment, then she nodded. “Let me ask Rosemary.” Hope looked up. “He wants to know if he can go with you.” “As long as it’s fine with you, it’s fine with me,” said Rosemary. “Yay!” Said PeaceMaker, bouncing up and down. Rosemary smiled and waved goodbye to Hope, then patted PeaceMaker on the head. Rosemary knew she and PeaceMaker were the same age, but PeaceMaker had grown up… differently than other dragonets, that’s why he was always so loving and caring. Rosemary walked into the nightwing kingdom, and she heard PeaceMaker gasp. “IT’S FANTASTIC!” He said, wide-eyed. “You haven’t been to the night kingdom?” “No, mama said after Glory got a new queen for the place, it’s gotten dangerous,” Said PeaceMaker. “The new queen is very nice, and she’s not an actual queen, Glory still had control. Plus, she has a name,” Rosemary pointed out. PeaceMaker snorted, “Queen Mud pie.” “Umm, no. Her name is Queen Blackwing,” snorted Rosemary. “I like Queen Mud pie,” Replied PeaceMaker. “Meh to.” “Will you give me a tour?” asked PeaceMaker. “Umm, you can explore, I need to find my mom.” Rosemary looked at the gorge. Caves had been carved into rock, and a waterfall roared at the far, far, end of the camp. Over the waterfall sat a stone structure, black scales reflecting in the moonlight. Rosemary knew that the structure was gonna become the palace.
Wooden huts sat on the ground, and trees grew up the sides of the gorge and knitted together to become a shield above the mini kingdom. Rosemary spread her wings and blasted herself into the sky. gliding above, watching nightwings talk, eat, hunt, and do what they do. She flew up the waterfall and exploded out onto the pavilion, where Queen Glory and Queen Darkwing sat. Darkwing was an obsidian black color, and her wings had no star patterns. Queen Glory was the same BORING green, with red wings and orange ruffs. “ROSEMARY! You made it!” Said Glory. “Mother!” Rosemary smiled and hugged her mother who was wearing a flower crown. “Hope led me here, I love the new additions to the palace!” “Me to,” Agreed Glory. Rosemary hugged Glory, then she spotted the dark hulking shape of Deathbringer in the shadows. “Deathbringer,” hissed Rosemary playfully. “Hmmmm, where could he be.” Rosemary glanced away for a moment, and she heard a roar, and scales collapsed on her own and she turned to see Deathbringer, smirking while tickling her. Rosemary laughed and tried to push herself away, and finally Deathbringer got up and sank back into the shadows. “Should I go?” asked Queen Darkwing. “Umm, no… You don’t need to,” Glory, replied very awkwardly. “Darkwing, this is my daughter Rosemary. Rosemary, this is Queen Darkwing.” “Nice to meet you,” Said Rosemary, bowing her head. “You too,” Darkwing siad, nodding a little. “MA MA!!!!!” PeaceMaker’s voice echoed through the town. “I think that’s me,” Rosemary said with a sigh. “I’ll be back in a moment.” The two queens nodded and Rosemary dove off the ledge, but what she saw was not what she wanted to see. Smoke was rising into the sky making it hard for her to see, growing flames burned the undergrowth, and she saw PeaceMaker in the center of them, coughing. Rosemary nearly screamed, but she didn’t want to panic PeaceMaker. “FIRE!” She called up to the pavillon, and instantly dragons began to try to put out the flames. Rosemary glided through the flames that PeaceMaker was in, the flames licking her wings. She landed next to PeaceMaker, spreading her wings around him. “I’m scared,” Said PeaceMaker, tears rolling off his eyes “It’ll be fine, i'll get you out of here,” Rosemary whispered calmly. “We need to fly out.” Rosemary took to the sky that was filled with smoke, but PeaceMaker didn’t move. “What?” Rosemary asked. “My tail’s stuck!” Screamed PeaceMaker. Rosemary saw a wooden pillar that had filled on PeaceMaker’s tail, it was leaning against the wall but a boulder kept it where it was. “Oh, no, no, no, no no…” Rosemary landed next to him again and grabbed the pillar, but sparks were on it and they scorched her talons. She was able to yank the pillar far enough up for PeaceMaker to get out, but then she dropped it on her talons and tail. Rosemary screamed and burning pain sizzled up her talons. “ROSEMARY!” Cried PeaceMaker, but Hope had arrived and was pulling PeaceMaker away. Smoke filled Rosemary’s lounges, making it hard to breath. She cried her pain up to the canopy that had caught fire as well. Voices were crying, dragonets were screaming, but there was no sign of her mother. For a moment, Rosemary let herself fall into hell. There was nothing she could do, so why fight it? Flames burned her wings into scorched balls of scales, she curled herself into a ball. Soon, silent smoke flooded her mind. After a long moment of peace, talons reached out and grabbed her wings, pulling her out of the smoke. Rosemary coughed ashes into the air. Her vision was all foggy and blurry, but she made out the green and orange scales of Glory, her mom had come to the rescue. Through the blurriness, her vision slowly went dark, and she fell unconscious.
