the adventures of the rascals chapter 1: ~ Plane Tickets To Paris ~ Key: ~ Naomi Kate ~ Chapter 1: ~ Plane Tickets To Paris ~ “Naomi! ! Hurry up! You’re going to be late for your flight!” My mom called. I sighed, and continued to put on my jackets. “I’m coming, mom!” I yelled back, tripping over something big on the ground. I fell face first, and sighed a sigh of relief when I noticed my face wasn’t broken. I looked back at what I had tripped over, when I found her lying there on the ground, still fast asleep. She had a beautiful black fur coat covering her entire, tiny body. Her dainty, little nose was carnation pink. She looked up at me with sleep in her beautiful eyes; the left one yellow, the right one blue. She sneezed quietly, but continued to snore away. I smiled, and walked towards her. “Korpin, what are you doing there? You’re supposed to be downstairs!” She looked up again, yawned, stretched, blinked at me, and then meowed in protest, as I picked her up. “C’mon, we have to get ready for our flight!” I touched her nose gently. She licked her nose, as if I had put some treat on there. I chuckled, and scruffed up her furry head. She meowed again, but this time, not in protest; it sounded more of a confused meow. “How many times do I have to tell you?” I shook my head playfully, and started down our winding staircase. “We’re going to Paris, France, to live with Uncle James, while mom works on renovating the home, or whatever.” I looked at Korpin, to see if she was following anything I was saying, but realized she was fast asleep in my arms, purring softly. I smiled, pulled her closer to my chest, and sat down on the couch, my heavy bags waiting for me at the doorstep, weighing themselves down. Although they sat perfectly still, for some reason, I saw them falling through the floorboards. I stared at them with curiosity, my mom looking at me like I’d been going bananas. “What’s wrong with the bags, sweetheart?” She asked, a calm tone to her smooth and serene voice. I didn’t answer. I just continued to watch the bags as they fell through the floorboards. She looked at the bags, then looked back at me. “They’re not going anywhere, silly.” I sighed, and repositioned myself on the couch. “Just… a little nervous for Paris.” I pursed my lips, and pet Korpin softly on her head. She opened her eyes, blinked twice as if she were shocked, and started spinning in circles, meowing nervously. “Looks like you’re not the only nervous one, MiMi!” My mom laughed. She raised an eyebrow at the crazy kitty. I chuckled, as she continued to spin round and round in circles on my lap. She pivoted, stuck her white - tipped tail firmly in the air, and hopped off the couch, walking to what used to be her mini, carpeted, 3 story castle. “It’s not there, Korps, we packed it so we can bring it to Uncle James’ place!” She looked at me, mad. “Meow?” she said, exchanging glances at me continously, then at the castle’s area, as if giving me hints that it’s not there. My mom sighed, clapped her hands together, wiped them on her apron, and picked up Korpin. “C’mon, Naomi, we have to get Korpin in her carrier.” “Mom..!” I whined. She knew howmuch I hated that... let alone how much Korpin hated it. “I know, I know, but you can’t have animals with you on the airplane; they have to be in a different room.” Mom handed Korpin to me, as she pulled out the carrier from the trunk of the car, and opened the gate. “Alright..’ I began, “Korps, you’ll just be in here for a bit. Ok?” I pet her one last time and softly pushed her in. As I closed the door, she started scratching at the sides of the cage, and wouldn’t stop meowing horrifically. I grabbed the carrier with my left hand. I felt so bad for the poor kitty. “That doesn’t make any sense…” I mumbled, picking up my bags. I put them in the trunk, and lifted my hand; the one with Korpin in her little basket. I watched her slump back, exhausted from meowing and scratching at bars. I stuck my finger in the cage, as she licked it. I giggled, and heard one more, sad meow from her, before I brought her to the front of the car. “Hurry up, honey, get in the car and set Korpin down on the other seat. I’m going back in the house to make sure I got everything.” Mom stared at me for a split second, and then got up and rushed into the house. It only took her what seemed like a whole day to make sure everything was packed and brought into the truck. So much just to find out that the only thing she forgot was one of her ‘important’ purses. She got in the car, started it, and then turned up the volume to the radio. “...you can’t do nothin’ right babe…” The radio sang. Not this again… “Ugh, mom. If you’re gonna play a song, at least play one that ISN’T depressing, please! These lyrics are gonna be your last words.”
“Alright, Alright… but just because you’re leaving today. Otherwise, the driver controls the radio!” My mom laughed, and turned off the radio. “I’ll put on music, then!” I smirked, and unlocked my phone. 7 - 2 - 7 - 2 - 2 - 5 - 7 . I scrolled through tons of apps, until I found one called Spotify. I opened up the app, and played one of my favorite playlists: “Songs To Play When Mom’s Song Just Ended”. The car read: Now Playing: “New Light” By John Mayer “Ahh…” I sighed, kicked back, let my seat down, and turned on the seat warmer. “Now, THIS, is what I call, music.” “...lighting up inside your drawer at home, all alone…” the car sang. My mom smiled at me, and continued to drive. It felt like forever, sitting in a car. But once I have my music on? The cares in the world seem to melt away, and the drive that once was forever, was 5 minutes. Probably because we live 5 minutes away from the Charlottesville Airport. “Alright honey! Today’s a… a big day!” my mom said, stifling tears back. “Yep… suuure is,” I stretched out my words, as I looked round the gigantic airport. There were so many things to see, I wasn’t sure if this was reality. There was a huge Starbucks on the left side of where we walk in, a souvenir shop with a whole bunch of neck pillows in 2 different colors, and 1 pattern: Blue, Red, and Cheetah Print. They all looked pretty okay! I was thinking of buying one myself… Right in the middle of the airport, there were two escalators. Tons of people were running around the airport, waving goodbye to others, grabbing their heavy suitcases, and lots of kids going down the up escelator. “You sure you’ll be alright on your own?” My mom asked, frantically following me running around the airport. I turned around and shrugged my shoulders, walking backwards. “You should be asking yourself that, mom.” I joked around. “Yeah, yeah, sure.” She checked her watch, and looked up at me horrified. “2 MINUTES UNTIL 10 MINUTES UNTIL YOUR PLANE STARTS BOARDING!” She looked at me with worry, and then pulled me into a huge hug. I hugged her back. Hard. I wasn’t going to be seeing her for quite some time. We’d never really been apart from each other. The last time we were far away, was when she left me at daycare. But… those aren’t exactly the times you remember. It got so bad at one point: She homeschooled me for as long as I can remember. Probably until last month, when school ended. I tried telling her: They don’t teach Geomerty like they did back then. She told me it was fine! And then we ended up getting a fine for domestic disturbance ( She got so mad at my work that she started throwing everything around and yelling in some foreign language those really creative people have yet to come up with ). “I’d better get going, mom, I don’t want to miss the flight!” “Oh… Alright. Take care of yourself, dear. You’ll call me everynight, right?” “Of course!” I reassured her, as I started to walk away. “And you’ll send letters?” “Absolutely!” “DON’T FORGET MOMMY LOVES YOU!” She yelled. Everyone just stared at us. I tried to ignore it, but it was really hard. How would you feel if you had 13,000 eye’s staring right at you? It was a pretty odd and awkward moment. At least I can remember this moment as my last laugh with my mom before Paris! Once I finally found where my airplane was, I sat down in the waiting room, and turned off notifications on my phone from my mom texting me goodbye notes. “Flight 17! If you are boarding Flight 17, please make your way to the desk up front, so we can board you onto the plane. I repeat, Flight 17; If you are boarding Flight 17, please make your way to the desk up front, so we can board you onto the plane.” The lady at the front desk called onto the intercom. I grabbed my duffle bag, and was about to reach for Korpin ( or where she would’ve been ). “Where’s Korpin?” I asked the air, as I shot up, and yelled her name. I ran to the lady at the desk, and screamed at her. “HAVE YOU ALREADY BOARDED ALL ANIMALS ON THE PLANE?” “Uh… Yes, yes we have! I can assure you, miss…” “Naomi Kate Wilson.” I quickly spoke. “Miss Wilson, that your animal… Cat, Korpin, has been boarded onto the plane!” “Thank you so much!” “Of course! Have a wonderful flight!” She called back at me, as I boarded the plane. 10 minutes at the airport and I’ve already gone bananas. I can definitely answer mom’s question now: “You sure you’ll be alright on your own?” I’m being truly honest with you right now mom; no. No I will not. I made my way into my seat; I was the first person in my row! Window Seat Garunteed! I sat back, played my other playlist: Vibe Playlist , and r e l a x e d. This flight was going to be quite alright! credits: coding: me story: me (@-vibinq- / @-joelle ) & ( @-yxllow-foxoli- / @Ri4God ) enjoy!
