Press space to see his liveries, and press the right and left arrows to see his expressions. This is Bear, the Hymek Diesel Engine, previously know as British Railways Class 35 D7101. He is a kind, defensive soul who is willing to stick up to those who pick fun at his close friends. He came to the Island in 1968 with his acquaintance, BR Class 46 D199, known by the engines as Old Reliable, and later Spamcan. D7101 stuck up for the steam engines when D199 insulted them for them being "out of date" and boasting about diesels and their reliablity. D199 and D7101 both had to be towed by Henry when D199 broke down with a tanker train, and D7101's air brake injector failed while pulling the Wild Nor' Western. D199 was sent away but D7101 was sent to Crovan's Gate to be repaired with Henry, who had jammed his regulator. D7101 was soon sent back to British Railways after he was repaired. He was given a second chance while Oliver was being repaired after his rescue from scrap. D7101 was given modified BR green with the same number. He soon proved himself and became a new member of the North Western Railway. The engines first teased saying that he growls like a bear, he can't help it, but the name "Bear" has stuck with him. From there on out, he was known as North Western Railway D3, or known by all on the railway as "Bear".
