12/19 - #21 (I think) trending under art!! :0 holy moly 700+?! as in, 300 away from 1k?! I still can't believe that many people like my art! you guys, this is insane :0 ----------------------------------------------------------------- since I haven't done anything to celebrate a follower milestone since my 300+ dta (results coming soon btw), and since 7 is my lucky number, I decided that I needed to make something to celebrate. and because i don't have enough time to make a meme or pmv/amv or something like that because i'm waaay too busy, have this art process instead :) ----------------------------------------------------------------- For this, I'm going to use procreate, and I'm going to draw a bust of a new oc I made during school. She's half fox and her name is Tarragon, but she goes by Tea sometimes. I love her sm <333 So here's my process: 1. simple sketch - just a couple of circles for the head and chest, along with a smaller circle and some lines to help me determine where the face should go. I leave some space at the top of the canvas to make room for ears :3 2. more detailed sketch - kinda messy, as I don't always erase during this part. I sketch the face, ears, floof, etc. 3. lineart! I draw over the sketch on a new layer and make any necessary adjustments (such as making the head slightly wider). 4. lineart without the sketch - sometimes this looks gross so I adjust anything else that needs adjusting 5. base coloring - I fill in the whole thing with the main color(s) 6. more coloring - I add any other fur markings and color in the face and inner ear 7. simple shading - I figure out where the light source is going to be for this, and shade in the areas where I think the light will create shadows. I like to use a soft airbrush, blur it, and turn down the opacity 8. some lighting - I used a light yellow airbrush and followed the same process as the shading, except this time I airbrushed where the light would most likely hit. For the shine in the eyes, I took the color of the eyes and made it much lighter, then used a normal pen on low opacity to draw some shiny things :D 9. filter thing - I added a new layer on top of all of it and filled it in with an orangey-red-coral color. Then I set it to "add" and turned down the opacity 10. changed the background color because I didn't want it to be just plain white 11. I felt like the background needed something, so I put an orange-yellow gradient on top of it, blurred it, and turned down the opacity. voila :) done! you can feel free to try out these steps with one of your own characters, and I'm open to any questions you might have. Art & Character - mine Song is Reed Flutes from the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky because I was in a festive mood :)
