Hello everyone, its Duchess from, @Duchessivy2010. I am going to tell you what information you should know before getting a rabbit. Some of this information could be part of your speech to try to convince your parents... Heh heh... Anyways, lets get started. Please note: This may take you onto the notes and credits, and some extra info may be on other slides so click space! Ok, first things first, this is one of the most important rules of having a rabbit, DONT BATH YOUR RABBIT. Bathing your rabbit can cause shock and hypothermia. Rabbits can clean themselves. They have one of the cleanest mouths. As you probably know, you can die from hypothermia. Rabbits are also not as strong as humans too. Finding vets for rabbits too, is really hard, you should probably look for one before you get a rabbit. Next, you should NOT put rabbits on their backs. It can cause shock and pain. Ok, so now that you know not to bath rabbits, I should tell you how you should groom your rabbit. But first rabbits can clean themselves too. You should get a brush for your rabbit. Nothing spiky because they have sensitive skin. I recommend the Hair Buster. It is made for cats and rabbits so its good for them. You should brush your rabbit once a week. If you dont they can get GI stasis, this is when your rabbit eats to much fur from cleaning themselves and cannot digest it. It can kill your rabbit. Here is a tip, dont pick a rabbit before you even convinced your parents. Clover and I have done it about four times and they all got adopted. We were devastated. Anyways lets continue. So I am not great at explaining things, but this is how you hold a rabbit: You put one of your hands under the rabbit and the other under their butts. It supports their butts and back paws so they are not like hanging. You hold the rabbit against your chest so they can hear your heartbeat, this calms them. When you hold your rabbit, hold them firm, but not too tight. You can hurt them if you hold them too tight. You need to hold your rabbit firm so you dont drop it. If you do, your rabbit will probably break their bones. Rabbits have fragile spines. Your rabbit can also sense if you are nervous and decline if they dont feel safe. If your rabbit struggles you should let them go. Rabbits are very stubborn. You have to do what they want. Its like your the servant. You can become their enemy, or their best friend. Now, lets talk about rabbit bonds. Ok, so rabbits, they are pretty chill, they can become friends with humans, cats, dogs, stuffed animals, blankets. So, rabbits can get lonely. They have feelings. First I will talk about humans and rabbits. Well, rabbits and humans by far are the best pair. They can sleep together, cuddle, watch videos, practically anything. In fact, I am with Colby right now, (Incase you did not know, Colby is Clovers and my rabbit). Next is cats and rabbits, they are adorable in pictures. But its hard to make them get along, I dont wanna go to a bonding expert either. Its hard to bond animals, and I have no advise on it, sorry. Sometimes when I try to get them to get along, my cat tries to attack. Do not worry, I grabbed Colby in time. Cats and rabbits cuddle and sleep together. Sometimes play together. Next up is, dogs and rabbits. hard to bond blah blah blah. My dog does not like my rabbit but he only growls at Colby, no threats really. My dog loves rabbits. Anyways, bonded dogs and rabbits play together in the snow, go on walks, sleep together, cuddle, and play. Stuffed animals and blankets and rabbits, well, rabbits lick them, chew on them, sleep with/on them. That is practically it. Fact: Rabbits eat their poop for nutrients, but still they have the cleanest mouth. I dont get it either ok? Items you should get when you are getting a rabbit! Here is the list, A carrier, Hay, Water and food bowl heavy so they cant be tipped over, litter box NO CAT LITTER, food (Will tell a diet later), Grooming supplies, toys, Medical supplies in case of emergency. They bunny medical supplies you need: Professional rabbit vet before anything you try, Nail Clippers, Cotton Pads, Cotton Swabs, Thermometer, Baby Gas Drops, Critical care in case your rabbit is not eating. Here is the diet, INFINITY HAY, hay helps rabbits digest foods and trim their teeth, we use spring mix lettuce until we fill the whole bowl, and half of a 1/4 cup of Oxbows young rabbit pellets. We also give Colby digesting things at night to make sure he is digesting properly. Next I will tell you how to clean a rabbit litter box. You should clean your rabbits litter box at least every 2-3 days, or if it starts to feel heavy or smelly. Get a damp wash cloth, dish soap for deep cleaning, also liners if you want, like news paper, and pee pads, I use news paper. Paper based or wood based litter, because cat litter is bad for your rabbit because, if your rabbit inhales it, it can be bad for their lungs, I mean its clay, its also bad for rabbits because they sometimes eat their litter.
