[ use space or click ] Time taken to draw: around 5 minutes You may use the same process I did, but please never trace/copy/heavily reference/steal the actual artwork. = PROCESS = Step 1 ♥ Big Circles Just draw out a few ovals squishing together, not hard at all. Use a darker color. In this case, for my character Cali, I'm using dark purple. These shapes will be the guidelines for the whole pattern. Step 2 ♥ More Spots Add smaller circles of varying sizes along the edges. Creating a new layer is optional, but recommended if you are inexperienced with semi-random markings. Step 3 ♥ Inner Color A very important step! Pick lighter and/or brighter colors and make slightly wobbly ovals inside the biggest shapes. Here, for Cali, I used two shades of light turquoise. Step 4 ♥ Paint Drips Whether you take this step or not is completely up to you, but in my opinion it really brings some flair to the whole character- you can truly make your painted dog painted. Start with making downward drip markings from the inner colors, then make shorter ones on the darker parts. It's subtle, but it can help create the illusion that the inner colors were freshly painted on. There's no wrong way to draw African wild dog markings. Be creative! I'm sure I'm not the first person in the world to make their markings look like real paint. I hope this super-fast tutorial helped you at least a little with drawing/designs AWDS. It's certainly tricky if you're not used to it- good luck!
